If you asked me what my favorite holiday is, I would probably answer Halloween without even blinking or having to give much thought to it. See Halloween is as fun of a day as you can get with all it’s spooky and creepy undertones still even as a mother and an adult. This would include Halloween party games that I have played in the past.
Yet, here we are days out of another Halloween.
And this year Halloween falls on a Tuesday, on a school day nonetheless. But hoping it is still a fun time to celebrate later after school.
The only drawback is it won’t be a late night with school the following day!
As for celebrating here on my blog for Halloween, I thought I would use this opportunity to share two of my Halloween articles that I have written for the menu suggestions, as well as some Halloween Party Games thanks in part to Tinyprints to help make for the perfect creepy and spooky Halloween party if you are planning on throwing your own this Saturday Halloween night.
What’s for Halloween Dinner?
Mummy Dogs, anyone?!
What’s creepier than Mummy Dogs?
How about a spooky snack??
Halloween Snack Mix anyone?
Now let the Halloween Party games begin…
Whether you’re planning a monster-themed masquerade ball or a pumpkin-filled harvest festival, Tinyprints list of 26 Halloween party games has things to do for all your party events for all ages. So, please feel free to check the out and sure you will find some Halloween party game inspiration…
From our home to yours, we are wishing you a very, Happy, spooky, creepy and fun Halloween now!!

Super tips, Janine! Halloween is SUCH a big deal for kids, and these are great ways to make the whole event more special! Go enjoy this weekend! 🙂
Janine says
Aw, thanks so much Meredith and hope you and your family have the best Halloween this weekend, too!! 🙂
Seana Turner says
I love Halloween, and as you said, with Halloween being on a Saturday, I expect to have a ton of trick-or-treaters… which I love! I put out big mummies, a skeleton, a little ghost that starts howling when it senses noise (i.e. kids approaching)… it is all fun! Going to be a bit nippy here, though, so everyone will need to bundle up. LOVE that opening photo:)
Janine says
I know and truly so excited that Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. Seriously cannot wait and hoping for a fun uninterrupted few hours of trick-or-treating and so much more now! Thanks as always, Seana 😉
Kathy Radigan says
Great tips!!! Love the idea of the hot dogs and dessert, I might do that this year with my teens and tween, they will totally know there mom has flipped!
Janine says
Love that you are going to try this for Halloween and you most certainly have to tell me your kids’ reactions if you do 😉
Leanne@crestingthehill says
Australia has only jumped on the halloween bandwagon for the last few years. I can’t say I’m a big fan of children going around and asking strangers for lollies. I think it’s a tradition you have to grow up with – I just find it annoying to remember to buy something to give kids knocking on my door (I’m thinking of going away this Saturday to avoid a day of the door bell ringing!) What’s the equivalent of “bah humbug” for halloween? 🙂
Janine says
Aw, Leanne I think you make a valid point and if I hadn’t grown up with it wonder if I would have felt differently.
Diane Roark says
Janine,
I love both of these recipes. I have not wrapped the hot dogs in years. They would be perfect this weekend with a big bowl of dirt. My two kids still at home, Caleb and Diana, would have so much fun eating these treats.
Thanks for sharing,
Diane
Janine says
Aw, Diane these are such fun recipes and hope they can indeed try this Halloween weekend!! Hugs to you 😉
Lisa @ The Golden Spoons says
My two oldest aren’t planning to trick or treat this year. I was hoping my youngest could do trick or treat at our church tonight and, then, on Halloween, we could just stay in with some creepy snacks and a family movie. However, she’s sick today and won’t be able to do trunk or treat tonight (which might get cancelled anyway because of weather!). ? It’s not my favorite holiday by any means, but it can be fun if nobody is sick!
Janine says
Lisa, I had Lily sick two years ago on Halloween and was miserable. This year Emma was sick on Sunday night and had her at the doctor just this past Monday. Fingers crossed, your kids and mine will be well this weekend now!!
Bill says
What a fun mother you are. My mom handed me a pillow case and sent me out the door. LOL You really get into this celebration and I’m very impressed. Have a great Halloween, my friend, and Happy Wednesday.
Janine says
This is nothing and wait until Christmas comes, as I swear I am a baking freak that just can’t help herself to try to enjoy every moment I can with the girls making all sorts of fun creations! But still love me some Halloween! Happy Wednesday once again and Happy Halloween to you, too!! 😉
nabanita says
We don’t celebrate Halloween here but the kids these days have started doing it..I love seeing them dress up..And I’m prepared with treats for them this year..Always nice to take part in something new, learn something from a different culture and basically just be together as a society..Great tips 🙂
Janine says
Aw, love that you have embraced Halloween even though you didn’t always celebrate it and agree always just nice to be together as a society.
Jack says
Dirt pudding is a treat you can have all year long. I am a fan. 🙂
Janine says
Aw, me too Jack!! 😉
catherine gacad says
i love their descendants costumes!
Janine says
Aw, thanks so much Catherine!! 😉
Tamara says
I still have yet to achieve those mummy dogs but I remember them so fondly. Perhaps one day.
And the dirt pudding is looking incredible!
Janine says
How I wish I could make both dishes for us to share in person. Maybe someday and have my fingers crossed for that!
Rea says
I really love the girls’ costumes!! So lovely. I got invited to a superhero themed Halloween party here. I think it’s gonna be fun but Reiko has been sick since Tuesday so not sure if I can join the fun. Hope you enjoy!!
Janine says
Aw, I hope Reiko is feeling better and Emma was sick at the beginning of the week here, too.
Corinne Rodrigues says
So much fun, Janine! We don’t do Halloween in India, except for some clubs and exclusive groups.
Janine says
Thanks Corinne and I can’t imagine not celebrating, but then again I know other parts of the world, too that don’t.
Bev says
Yay, Halloween is almost here! Tomorrow I dress up Eve for the first time this year 🙂 It will be a low-key Halloween since she’s still so young, but I’m looking forward to celebrating with her, and my parents & sister who will be in town also.
Janine says
Aw, sounds like a wonderful Halloween that you have planned for Eve this year and hope you have a blast celebrating, too!! 🙂
Rabia @TheLiebers says
I am pretty excited about Halloween being a Saturday! We have soccer games in the morning, but after that we’ve got the rest of the day to celebrate and have fun!
Janine says
We have soccer on Sunday afternoon. So free all day Saturday and so psyched for that, too!! 🙂
Mama G says
We’ve just got the Hallowe’en boxes out and gone through the dressing up clothes, I nearly cried at some of the outfits, and how much my ‘baby’ has grown in the last couple of years! I’ve also bagged up lots and lots of sweets ready for the trick or treaters. No party this year, I haven’t been as organised as I’d have liked… always next year eh?
Janine says
Aw, alway next year for sure and I have not looked through old costumes, but sure I did I would be bawling with how much they have grown here, was well!
Allie says
Okay, your girls look so cute in those costumes! And I love the game ideas. Thank you! Hope you have a happy and safe Halloween.
Janine says
Thank you so much Allie and the same to you and your kids, too!! 😉
Dana says
The girls look adorable! And I knew exactly who they were dressed as, because I watched The Descendants with my 17-year-old. 🙂
Janine says
Thanks Dana and loved that you and your 17 year old watched The Descendants, too 😉
Leslie says
Halloween is T’s favorite holiday too…mostly just because of the candy. But I’m excited about it being on Saturday too. Definitely planning on making this an all day event. Your dirt pudding looks like a great snack for the day!
Janine says
Thanks Leslie so much and I know so awesome that it does fall on Saturday this year. Happy Halloween now, too 😉
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
Those are fun ideas. What kid doesn’t love a good Halloween party?
Janine says
Aw, thanks Robin and I am totally a big kid at heart with Halloween as I get just as excited, too 😉
Jhanis says
The dirt pudding looks like it’s gonna be a hit with the kids! And me too! LOL I love Halloween too but we don’t have that neighborhood trick or treating activity. Very few would participate. My kids go trick or treating either at the office at a resort/hotel/establishment that hold Halloween parties for kids. My kids had a blast earlier at the office. Me? I’m mostly in it for the candy tax. 😀
Janine says
Jhanis, the candy alone is worthy to me, too!!! 😉
Kristi Campbell says
Happy Halloween to you and your family Janine! It’s my favorite holiday too – so much spooky fun for the kids. I love the photos of the girls and love the mummy dogs!
Janine says
Aw, right back at you Kristi and hope you and Tucker have so much fun tomorrow, as well!! 🙂
Jen says
Oh my goodness your girls look so cute, um I mean evil 🙂 What fun food and party ideas you are sharing here today! I hope you have a wonderful Halloween!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Jen and wishing you all a very, Happy Halloween, too!! 🙂
Aunt Gloria says
Happy Halloween! Hope you all have a great day and evening…..I know the girls will have fun trick or treating. I saw you in the cowgirl outfit and them in their witches costumes. I’m sure it will be a fun-filled time. Sugar up! Your food suggestions look yummy! Love to all……xxoo
Janine says
Aw, thanks Aunt Gloria and wishing you a very, Happy Halloween, too now xoxo 😉
Leah says
We do the same mummy dog tradition! Happy Halloween! Hope you guys have a spooky day!
Janine says
Aw, love that you do similar and Happy Halloween to you all, too now!! 🙂
Michelle | A Dish of Daily Life says
I have to admit, being less than creative Mom, Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. Now that my kids are older, they kind of do their own thing, and I enjoy the little ones that come to the door trick or treating in costume. We get very few these days though…everyone seems to congregate at big Halloween festivities these days. Our downtown does something big and most of the kids head there nowadays, it seems.
Janine says
Aw, we don’t get as many trick-or-treaters, but I live on a dead-end so usually that is the reason, but still I love Halloween and just can’t help, but get into it here for my own girls 😉
April says
I like Halloween. I used to love it. Not sure what happened, but it’s not. I hope you had fun.
Janine says
Aw, we did have fun and still just can’t help, but love it here 😉
