January GLOSSYBOX ~ Welcome to 2014!

Filed Under: affiliates, beauty, BLOG Tagged With: Beauty, January 2014 GLOSSYBOX, Subscription Box

I know it is already February, but due to all the snow and the Polar Vortex, January’s GLOSSYBOX was received here at the bitter end of January.

So, I honestly didn’t get to try most of the contents of the box until beginning of February to be able to give a fair review and share here of it until now.

But I am happy to report that it lived up to the hype and wait.

January Welcome Glossybox

This month’s box was tagged and labeled by the GLOSSYBOX team to “Stay warm & glossy”, because all the products were geared towards giving the subscribers the best skincare and makeup to start the new year off on the right foot.

So without further ado, let’s take a loser look inside the January GLOSSYBOX.

January GLOSSYBOX Beauty Contents

 1.  BALANCE ME ~ Super Toning Body Wash

An invigorating, tone-enhancing, naturally foaming body wash with their signature “super”, spa-inspired aromatic blend of juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender essential oils.

I am all for a good body wash and as much as I liked the scent, GLOSSYBOX has given us a few different body washes in the past couple of boxes, so I honestly was hoping for one month without a body wash. I have used it sampled it for this review, but still not done with the last body wash, so won’t use it again until I am actually done and in need of another body wash to be honest.

FULL SIZE $14.00 / 3.4 OZ

RECEIVED SAMPLE 1.7 OZ

2. THE ORIGINAL BEAUTYBLENDER ~ Beautyblender.pure

Beautyblender.pure is an ergonomically designed colorless sponge applicator that allows you to flawlessly apply your makeup and skin care.  It is designed to be cleaned with its partner blender cleanser – making it super eco-friendly.  Great for sensitive skin.

So, I did as was directed and used with my favorite BB Cream application and loved how this sponge applied my makeup.  It was flawless and definitely worth getting in this on this month’s selection.  And the cleanup of the actual sponge with the included cleanser was fairly easy and simple, too.

FULL SIZE $19.95

RECEIVED SAMPLE SIZE

3.  BELLAPIERRE COSMETICS ~ Mineral Blush

This creamy, super sheer all mineral blush creates a soft, radiant glow for fresh-faced rosy cheeks.  Recommended by make-up artists and dermatologists.  It is suitable for all skin types and conditions; from oily skin to dry, mature types and even the most sensitive, too.

This had to be my favorite part of the box this month.  I use Bare Minerals Blush and this totally reminded me of that blush.  Plus, getting the full size was also an added bonus and definitely lived up to the above description of giving me nice, rosy cheeks when I used it.

FULL SIZE $20.00 / .14 0Z

RECEIVED FULL SIZE

4.  TONI&GUY HAIR MEET WARDROBE ~ Casual Sea Salt Texturing Spray

This hair spray creates texture and body with light hold – perfect for achieving a lived in, beach look.  Spray evenly from root to tip, on towel dried or dry hair and work through to create tousled waves with natural movement.

This was my least favorite in this box, because I am not wearing my hairy wavy or be achy right now.  It is barely breaking out of the teens temperature wise, so I have been blowing out and straightening my hair.  I am saving this one for when the weather does warm up to officially try out.

FULL SIZE $14.99 / 6.8 FL OZ

RECEIVED SAMPLE SIZE 2.5 FL OZ

5.  VICHY ~ Aqualia Thermal Rich Cream

Soothe and Strengthen dry skin with Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal Rich Cream.  This paraben-free formula melts easily into skin and locks in moisture for 48-hour lasting hydration.  Formulated with mineral-rich Vichy Thermal Water and hyaluronic acid.

My second favorite get in this month’s box, because I am a sucker for great moisturizer, especially during this time of the year with all the cold, dry weather.  I love this cream and am still using it daily now.

FULL SIZE $31.00 / 1.7 OZ

RECEIVED SAMPLE SIZE 0.5 OZ

That beachy hair stuff looks cool – but you're right – save it for the warmer weather. Once the humidity hits I have to give up blowing out my hair – the curls win out!

Totally save for the warmer weather, because I like you have the curls and wave completely win out at that point, too!

I haven't tried the VIchy cream yet but I'm excited to try it now after reading your review! And I agree about the salt spray. It could be great, but I'm just not quite in the mood to try it out yet! Did love the beautyblender though!!

The Vichy cream is seriously one of my new favorites and hope you enjoy as much as I am. And I am still not sure what they were thinking with that spray, but I truly don’t think they thought we were going to get a polar vortex possibly, but still not working for me at this time of the year. Can’t stop raving about the beauty blender either here, too 🙂

A rainy, dreary week here in Olympia. This is the kind of weather that turns thoughts towards spring and gardening…..cabin fever will be settling in soon. Snow coming your way…good luck and have a great Tuesday.

Bill, I am so past cabin fever and seriously cannot wait for the first nice spring day now. Longing for and dreaming about it. Happy Tuesday again and wishing you a great one again 🙂

Hey Janine…I am laughing at myself bc all I kept thinking about was "can you take it on an airplane?" While looking at the make-up…..so many restrictions these days! This lady had some mineral makeup shed apparently just bought and security took it and she had to go fight for it…that's the measuring stick for me from now on…if I can take it n a plane…I'll buy it! LolI

I liked the same products as you! I would have been disappointed in the other products, esp the body wash and the hair spray. Body wash = boring and I wouldn't use the hair product. I stopped getting glossy box because I felt they were getting more body wash/hand cream and less face products. Boo!

Corinne, I still am giving GLOSSYBOX through the end of my subscription, but you are right about recent boxes having a lot of hand creams and body washes interspersed. Are you subscribing to any other beauty boxes? Just curious to know if any of the other subscription boxes are doing similar to this now, too.
