The New Year brings a chance to restart and practice resolution-setting with little ones. While there is no “right way” to set goals for the future, a great way to approach making positive changes is by focusing on giving back and being kinder to others.
Whatever your personal or families’ goals are, there are always opportunities to teach your children the importance of lifting others on your way to personal success. By spreading kindness you are more likely to inspire others as well as receive a little love in return. For children, this can be in the form of sharing, helping others, or saying please and thank you.

They’ve also provided kindness challenges that are simple and can be turned into fun family activities to do together! Try these with your family or on your own to enter the New Year on a positive note one kind act at a time.
5 Family-Fun Kindness Challenges All Year Long
1. Give Back to Family and Friends
Keep track of loving those closest to you with a daily reminder from the printable calendar below. Kindness can be contagious and being nice to your family and friends can make for a happier home!
2. Pick Up a New Skill
Challenge each other to pick up a new skill or hobby to enhance your creativity and add some fun into your life! Learning is a great way to stay sharp and increase your little one’s brain functions.
3. Show Gratitude to Colleagues and Inspiring People
Show a bit of gratitude to benefit every colleague on your team. If you run your business solo, show some love to someone who has helped or mentored you in the past!
4. Invest in Yourself
Show yourself some love by expanding your skills or knowledge, caring for your body and fitness goals, or simply cultivating your mental and emotional health.
5. Pay It Forward to Your Community
Give up some of your free time by volunteering in your community. Teaching generosity to your children early can increase their mindfulness as they grow older!
Use this activity to show the ones you love some kindness and bring positive energy into your home. The New Year is all about refreshing for the better, so use this time to teach gratitude to your kids by thinking of fun ways you can show others kindness. Happy New Year!

I was just talking this morning with a friend about giving back to the community. It is worth finding something you truly love, because then you will contribute your passion as well as your time. I think it is fine to try out a few opportunities, and not just take the first one that comes along. There is lots of need, so take the time to find the one that you can be excited about helping.
Janine says
I love that you were currently thinking about this and shared it here for you. that said, I couldn’t agree more about finding opportunities that fit and make you excited is what it is all about 😉

Teach kindness….what a great lesson to pass on to others.
I was thinking, calendars have not really been replaced by technology. We still have a couple calendars hanging on walls for reminders. I know you can get them on the computer and on our phones, but I like having one I can look at easily.
Anyway, Happy Tuesday to you on this snowy morning.
Janine says
I hear you and always nice to have a calendar to actually look at. Happy Tuesday right back at you and hope the snow isn’t too bad in your part of the country 😉
