Love Is All Around – February 2014 GLOSSYBOX

Filed Under: affiliates, beauty, BLOG Tagged With: Anatomicals, February 2014, Figs & Rouge, GlossyBox, Lauren B. Beauty, Pureology, Sumita Beauty

Yes, I know it is now officially March and I am only now just sharing my February GLOSSYBOX with all of you, but I actually only received it on Friday, February 28th, even though it was labeled the month of love or products to make love go all around.

February 2014 GLOSSYBOX - Month of Love Card Insert

So, it took me time to go through my box and try some of the products included to share my thoughts and review with all on this.

I will also be honest and share that this is the second box for me that has arrived later in the month then I was expecting.  January GLOSSYBOX, I was told when I called was held up due to the Polar Vortex and snow with shipping.

This month, I didn’t bother to call and figured it would show up sooner or later, but it was definitely later and not sure if this a new trend with GLOSSYBOX and will need to keep my eyes open if it is.

That said, I did finally receive my box and now without further ado want to share the contents with all here.

February 2014 GLOSSYBOX Contents

February 2014 GLOSSYBOX~

  • ANATOMICALS Puffy The Eye Bag Slayer Wake Up Under Eye Patches

These eye patches are made specifically to help revitalize the skin around the eyes and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, too.  I will tell you I was truly excited to open this one, which by the way was the full size containing 3 patches, because I had read that it could indeed also reduce dark circles.

See, I don’t have much in the way of wrinkles just yet, but have had dark circles for years and having kids (the lack of sleep) has only heightened that.

I did get to try one set already and haven’t seen that much of a difference, but am wondering if prolonged use is the key.  If it could promise me that, I would definitely be on board, because over the years I have tried everything and just gotten used concealing these circles as best as I can.

Full Size $11.00 / .21 oz x 3 patches (received the full size)

  • FIGS & ROUGE Cherry Blossom Tinted Lip Balm Tube~

This lip balm is made with 100% natural ingredients (petroleum free, too) with a light cherry blossom scent.  I tried this one immediately the day I got my box and loved the scent and definitely was a winner to me.

I love lip balms during this time of the year, because the effects of the cold drying weather and this lip balm lived up to the moisture reputation and the cherry flavor truly made me want to go out a buy cherries to eat.  And the tinted color added just that subtle look to my lips that I love, because I am not a huge lip color daily, so just a little added color to me goes a long way and this totally did that.

Full size $9.00 / .42 oz (received the full size)

  • LAUREN B. BEAUTY Nail Couture in City of Angels~

I was so anxiously awaiting this polish when I saw pictures of it and was hoping to have it by Valentine’s Day, because it looked the perfect pink, romantic shade for the day.  Unfortunately, this box as I said didn’t come until 2 weeks after Valentine’s Day.  And I had already received my Julep Maven Free Polish Box two days before.

So, I was wanting to try those polishes first to be honest, but then couldn’t resist this one, because it boasted that this polish was not only quick drying, but also having high shine with a chip resistant, long lasting finish.  That alone had me intrigued, because I use a lot of different polishes and have had over the years and most chip in a few days.  Granted, I used acrylic nails for awhile in my youth and that is the exception to the rule with chipping, but now I don’t use acrylic, so I am constantly trying to find ways to make my polish last longer or find a a polish that will do just that and last longer.

When I finally used it, it did indeed last longer then usual just a little under a week’s time, and the color was perfect for the beginning of Spring now.

Full Size $18.00 / .5 fl. oz (received the full size)

  • PUREOLOGY SERIOUS COLOUR CARE Color Fanatic~

Sadly I have to now color my hair, because I do have some grays coming in.  I found my first gray when I was just about 20 years old, but then really didn’t see the gray sprout up much more until after having my kids and again the lack of sleep does not do wonders for your hair either.

Since I do color my hair now (have for years with highlights and such, but now it is more that I have to then I want to), I try to use products that do help against the effects of indeed coloring my hair.

Pureology states that this product provides 21 essential benefits to prime, protect and perfect color-treated hair.

I only achieved a sample and I have long thick, hair.  So, I truly only used a small amount the first time and must admit a small amount does go a long way and definitely felt that my hair was a bit silkier, but as for the color effects truly didn’t see much difference, but maybe because I do take care of my hair with descent products to begin with.

That said, I will definitely use it until my sample runs out, but not sure if I will buy this one and haven’t made up my mind one way or another now.

Full Size $24.00 / 6.7 oz (received the sample size – 1 fl oz)

  • SUMITA BEAUTY Kala Color Intense Pencil in Black~

I use eyeliner daily with mascara here to help with my tired eyes to make them look that much brighter.  For me this is a must and will be honest this is the third eyeliner of sorts that I have received in from my GLOSSYBOX subscription in the last 6 months time.  Not that I am complaining, because I do use it enough and could use a new one soon, but honestly didn’t open this one immediately, because I did have the Punker Eye Pencil from the December GLOSSYBOX here.

I finally did open this eyeliner this past weekend and will share that when I took the plastic seal off and proceeded to try to get the top lid off (keyword tried), it was very hard to open and then when I finally got the cap off, the pencil tip broke off from how hard it was to get it open.  I was able to mend the tip to try, but it was very dark and honestly didn’t like the color at all (I like a more subtle eyeliner look). So, I am going on record as saying I wasn’t thrilled with this one eyeliner and have had better eyeliners in the past boxes.  And this one is definitely not worth $15 in my eyes.

Full Size $15.00 / .06 oz (received the full size)

I could definitely use the eye patches. I look like I have black eyes most of the time LOL Like you, I have had gray hairs since my 20's but they are now in full bloom!

I haven't tried all the products yet in my box, so am glad to read your reviews. I hope that after using the three patches (I somehow got a fourth!) the bags under my eyes will be diminished. And instead of the lip gloss, I got some kind of collagen cream! LOL I must have stated I needed to tighten up my skin! I have yet to try the eye liner, but now I know to be careful when prying open!

Happy to give you some feedback before you use all in the box now. Awesome that you got a fourth patch and interesting about the collagen cream. And as for the eyeliner, I am glad to warn on this, because I was so disappointed that it broke even before I got to use it 🙁

I could use that eye bag slayer right now…I am still feeling tired from my long drive to VA and back this weekend. I have a feeling I am going to be running a bit behind all week. Trips like that take a lot out of you! Anyway, I will be sure to check that out. Thanks for sharing, Janine!

Dana, i was happy to share the truth here on that eyeliner, because these products are costly (many of them) and that is truly why I try to take my time before putting up these reviews. And I do know the feeling about getting these types of packages in the mail and am with you daughter on getting a bit excited, too 🙂

No, I don't have my March box yet at all and when I checked it was still in the packing stages. I assume, I want get the March for at least another week at the rate the last two months boxes arrived. And I know the lip gloss was truly a great addition to this box, but the eyeliner like I said not impressed with it at all.

I get dark under eye circles too – I have a weird sleeping schedule and I'm gonna blame that:). A good trick is to rub ice cubes on them – I swear it works. I only do it for special occasions though because it's cold! Like if I'm getting gussied up to go out with Dave, ya know:)

Not a fig fan, although the lip gloss intrigues me.
All about the eye pads! I really used to think dark undereye circles were reversible but now I think they're just an unfortunate part of life. I'd love to find something that works!

I love the Anatomicals products. Besides those funny quotes on the boxes, they are very good quality as well. I bet the under-eye patches indeed will show their best results with regular and prolonged use. I might just try that nail polish brand. Usually, nail-polish barely lasts a day without chipping, that's why I never wear it 🙂

I so love Anatomicals products too and they really are great quality. And the quotes are the best, aren't they 🙂 The nail polish was a winner to me and I am also like you with my polish chipping very quickly here, too. So, highly recommend for nail polish chipping issues. 🙂

That was the last Glossybox I got before I cancelled the subscription. I just got sampled out. I didn't get the lip tint….I can't remember what was in it's place but I did get the eyeliner, only in black. I KNEW that polish looked familiar when I saw it the other day! I got the same one and it is currently on my toes. I really love it. Very pretty and feminine! I also like the under eye patches. They are pretty cool!

I still love my samples, but I am keeping an eye out on the delivery times though, because as I mentioned here this cam pretty late in the month for a February box (actually on the very last day of the month). I have 3 months left of my 6 month subscription and like I said will totally re-evaluate then here, too. I totally the polish too and those eye patches were definitely a great get for the month 🙂

Seems like you got some great products in your glossybox although you got it late. I think Krxssy would enjoy getting a box of her own. She's totally into things like this and I would totally want to steal that lip balm. Even Madison has been going through EOS like crazy because it's been so dry and cold. We've had great weather the past couple of weeks but she's still chapped. Hope you're having a great week.

I tried Glossbox last year and cancelled. The cx was horrible and they charged me for another month when I clearly cancelled in time. I left b/c the boxes do arrive late and I was missing items. I'm sorry they still have those bad habits. As for the dark circles, I would say Vitamin K. It won't get rid of them but it will lighten circles. Sadly, I speak from experience. That is my only flaw with my skin…well that one monthly pimple but doesn't come every month. So, we just won't count that one. OK, just one flaw. LOL

I am truly so sorry to hear that they actually charged you after you clearly cancelled and think that is awful. I will say right after I posted this, I literally received the March box the very next day and absolutely was so happy with this box, because they included a free charm bracelet from Alex and Ani, which I am totally loving now. So for that alone that box paid for itself, but I am definitely not thrilled with the ship time and going to keep my eyes and ears open now for sure. And thank you for sharing this with me today 🙂
