A Recent Week’s After-School Activities for My Girls:
Monday Early Evening – The Science Fair
Tuesday Late Afternoon – Religion Class Drop Off, Friend’s Birthday Party
Wednesday Early Eveing – After School Playdate
Thursday Late Afternoon – Local Library Pizza Party
Friday Afternoon/Evening – Dance Classes
Saturday Evening – Daisy Trip
Sunday Daytime – Two Kid Birthday Parties overlapping
And my list of where I am needed as far as chauffeuring duties and more just keep going on and on for this mom.
Seriously, I could totally revival Driving Miss Daisy with all the places I see and go to daily with my gang.
So no real surprise that by bedtime for the girls, I am in need of some serious me downtime to indulge.
But how on earth can I do that?
See as a mom, myself and pretty much all moms are on from the moment we wake until the last child’s head hits the pillow for dreamland at night.
Still, if you are like me you don’t want to immediately go to bed once the kids are indeed asleep.
But what are some ways that you can enjoy the actual peace and quiet of the day’s end.
5 Ways That Moms Can Indulge After The Kids Go To Bed
1. Netflix/Hulu Binge Watch –
As I shared recently, I was binge watching Fuller House with both my girls, but there are many other viewing options just for moms, such as Netflix’s New Original Series, Love or Hulu’s New Original Series, 11.22.63. Also, both have a wide range of older hits shows to binge on as well, including 90s hits, such as Seinfeld, Friends, Felicity, and even My So-Called Life.
2. Read an actual book –
I have recently shared on my blog that the past few months my reading has been on fire and have to admit one of my favorite me-time pastimes is to read just about any book I can get my hands on.
3. Surf the web, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest or more. –
As much as I can scan social networks all day long, sometimes I just can’t help but devour them that much more after the kids are snuggled into their beds, because I suppose it is that easy to do with my trusty iPad.
4. Play Online App Games, such as Wordbrain –
Again, my iPad or even my iPhone with allow me to play all sorts of games and in recent months I was enjoying playing Wordbrain.
5. Have a fun snack that no one can Bogart from you –
Sometimes I truly just want to be able to enjoy a late night snack that little hands can’t try and steal from me. In these cases, I choose Betty Crocker™ Soft Baked Bars, which I recently found at my local Walmart during a fun filled shopping trip are brand NEW and are a truly delicious and highly indulgent treat.
These Betty Crocker™ Sweet Rewards bars are therefore just right for all those blissful me -time moments that as a mom are still a much-needed part of my life, especially after a long week of shuttling my own kids from place to place.
They come in three different equally scrumptious varieties in either Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar, Caramel Brownie Bar or Butterscotch Blondie Bar.
So now when the kids go to bed I am all set with a sweet and delectable treat with Betty Crocker™ Sweet Rewards bars.

Still, just in case my little ones decide to come find me after dark, I have also created a fun, but effective printable to keep my little ones from disturbing me further with Do Not Disturb Door Hanger that you, too, can have now for all your mom indulging after-hours.

ENJOY!!!
How do you indulge moms?

I love these suggestions!!! Also love the snack size Betty Crocker bars!! How cool is that!!! Thanks for the 411.
Janine says
Aw, my pleasure and so glad I could share!! 🙂
Bill says
I know I probably shouldn’t say this, but I don’t miss parenthood at all. I can hear the gasps from here, but I did my time an I’m done now. I’m exhausted just reading about your week. Best wishes, my friend.
Janine says
Aw, thanks Bill and I know when I do re-read that list I get what you are saying totally!!
Dara says
I am such a chauffeur too! Great post and I think I’m going to start Fuller House asap now! BTW, I think you have a mistake in your blog title!
Janine says
Yup, I am shot and tired. Thanks for catching that and after the week I had it doesn’t surprise me one bit LOL!!
Bev says
I also indulge with some Netflix or a sweet or savory treat. Lately it’s been maple bacon popcorn!
Janine says
Oh that popcorn sounds yummy, Bev!!! 🙂
Jen says
Oh my gosh aren’t these amazing!! I am all for a little binge watching with a box or two of these awesome new treats. It is like a double win!
Janine says
Totally agree and definitely a double win, Jen!! 🙂
Tamara says
I’ve had this up on my screen for hours.. just waiting to indulge in the post.
They look SO GOOD. I need to indulge today. After having allergies that made me think it was a bad cold, and then the car battery dying this morning.
I’m ready for my Betty Crocker!
Janine says
Aw, so sorry to hear about your car battery and mine actually died last week after Kevin got his new car. Seriously you and I seem to be on the way win connection more often than not!
Yankee Burrow says
because my kids are teens, I usually go to bed before them. lol. and I also homeschool, so I am always in need of some me time. Luckily hubby built me an art studio separate from the house…with a lock on the door! hahaha
Debbi
Janine says
Love the idea of an art studio and definitely would use that lock, too if I could 😉
Kelly L McKenzie says
Wonderful suggestions, Janine. You truly had my mouth watering over the pictures of those bars. Yum! I am also in a reading binge. Do you know the Louise Penny detective series? I absolutely love them. Am eagerly awaiting her next book. As for binge watching, I’m currently wrapping up the 4th season of House of Cards. SO good. If it wasn’t such a gorgeous sunny day here and my dog wasn’t sitting inches from my lap top, staring me down, I’d go binge. But I mustn’t. Off to walk the dog. Have a great St. Patrick’s Day!
Janine says
Now you got my curiosity piqued and totally going to have to check out the Louise Penny series now. Oh and once again have a very, Happy St. Patrick’s Day today!!! 🙂
Amanda || Growing Up Madison says
Those sound like all the ways I indulge except for those Betty Crocker Bars. I haven’t tried them as yet but they really look good. Sometimes it seems like I even fall asleep before my kids do because I’m so tired running around all day. Books and Hulu are my thing though. I can do both for hours.
Janine says
Same here can do both for hours too and yet if I am really tired I definitely could fall asleep right after the girls go to bed still, too.
Nellie says
oh my gosh what a really good idea!! It will definitely replace my hubby’s note that says something like “mommy’s sleeping, go away” lol!
Janine says
Aw, yay and so glad you can use this, too 🙂
Kisma says
I love a small bowl of cereal and watching some mindless TV! With older kids, they tend to stay up later than I do, so I am sure they are the ones indulging thinking I won’t notice. lol.
All of these are great suggestions. I wish I could have chocolate because those bars look yummy!
Janine says
Aw, I am sure someday my kids will stay up later than I do, too and sure they will think they are outsmarting me with this and more come that day!
Allie says
Lately, I indulge in sleep! But in the goo-ole-days:) I was either reading a book or catching up on Tivo/Net Flix. Your schedule sounds like mine Janine – whatever we do, we need to pair it with a glass of wine!
Janine says
Aw, sleep sounds good to me, too Allie and trust me, I do like to sleep when all else fails, too.
Rosey says
Yep, that’s a great way to indulge after the kiddos have gone to bed. These both sound good to me!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Rosey and glad we agree on this, too 🙂
Diane Roark says
Janine,
You are making me so hungry. I would have never thought about putting these together but they truly look amazing. love Betty Crocker mixes and normally have at least 10 on hand at any given time but I do not have these two. I will seriously have to get a couple of these Betty Crocker mixer.
Blessings,
Diane
Janine says
Aw, my pleasure Diane and hope you try very soon now 🙂
Leslie says
Netflix is our go-to in the evenings after bedtime. In the last few years we’ve watched both Cheers and The Wire from start to finish. Love being able to watch old shows without commercials! Those bars look tasty, and I keep looking at them wondering how I could spruce them up for a party!
Janine says
Leslie, would love to see what you could come up with and again I am so with you on Netflix, too 😉
eli@coachdaddy says
I’m quite classy with my indulgences. You know, a bag of ginger snaps and a bottle of store-brand coke zero, at 1 a.m., trying to write a post I wanted to post an hour ago. I got it like Frank Sinatra.
Janine says
You should so have been a member of the Rat Pack as seriously you most definitely got what it takes and than some!! 😉
Kenya G. Johnson says
Love the DND sign. I already know my two would be offended and would come in anyway. LOL! I have chocolate chips here (ALWAYS) and you’d be suprised what they go with when I’m trying to have healthy stuff around. This week I ate chocolate chips with pretzels!
Janine says
Yup, I love chocolate chips with pretzels and I honestly am not picky as long as it is sweet and/or salty I am good to go 😉
Tiffany @ A Touch of Grace says
Those bars look so good! And I’m totally with you on the binge watching a show. At the end of the day sometimes all I want is to just sit and veg.
Thanks for linking up with us on the Shine Blog Hop!
Janine says
My pleasure sharing and I know vegging at the end of a long day is definitely high on my list, too 😉
Kristi Campbell says
I love bingeing on Netflix but am terrible about staying up too late doing so. Those sweet treats look delicious! Truly yummy. And now I’m hungry. Also love the Do Not Disturb sign you made Janine!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Kristi and I do have a tendency staying up too late here, too with binge watching and reading more often than not, too 🙂
Kristi R Campbell says
I knew I recognized those yummy-looking bars!!! So glad you linked this up and I’m STILL binging on Netflix and Hulu and HBO and and and… all the stations really 🙂
Janine says
Happy I can link up even if it is with an already published piece. But after this crazy week, I still wanted to join, but couldn’t muster up the energy to write anew for FTSF. But thought this one was perfect for the sentence and the theme. So love that I could recycle it and link up, too 🙂
Cynthia says
First, Happy St. Patty’s Day! I saw this post come into my inbox, but hadn’t had a chance to respond.
Second, I’m so proud of you: I see all these affiliate posts and how far you’ve come with your blogging! You’re my hero!!
Third, book reading and binge-watching Netflix – I love those things!
Fourth, I’m so grateful for you! I hope you’ve been well. I still can’t believe how your girls are just-a-growing and growing. 🙂
Sending hugs!
Janine says
Cyndi, I feel the same way about you and do truly hope you know that. That said, thank you always not only for being such a wonderful friend, but again just for being you, because that is something I am seriously more than thankful than you know. Hugs right back at you today!!! <3
Seana Turner says
All right, I took your advice and actually sat down – by myself- and read a book today. I got almost halfway through it, sitting by the fire reading. That’s crazy, right? I never let myself do this, but it felt very extravagant and wonderful:)
Janine says
That is awesome and seriously so happy you got to do that for yourself today!! 😉
Aunt Gloria says
I love to watch the re-runs of Friends! It’s a great late-night indulgence when there’s nothing else I NEED to do. And I will try those snack bars….they look yummy. Enjoy and indulge yourself! Love,……….
Janine says
Aw, thanks Aunt Gloria and I also still love old reruns of Friends, too 🙂
Rabia @TheLiebers says
There is a sweet spot *Pun intended* of time between when the kids are actually settled in bed and when I fall asleep. If I managed to find that time, I love to eat chips after they go to bed. Sometimes I crunch to loud to watch TV though! LOL
Janine says
Aw, I love potato chips and may crunch a bit loud myself at times, too 😉
Rea says
I’d love a late night light snack! Now that I’m working at home and at night, I do take some light snacks. I have to remind myself not to overeat, it’s hard not to because the fridge is just right there. LOL. Reiko tends to sleep a little later than usual lately. He’s still adjusting since we moved. I also vowed not to check social media at least an hour before bedtime, so that’s not a choice for me anymore now, haha!
Janine says
I try also with social media right before bedtime not to look, but if I am reading a book on my iPad sometimes I cheat. Oh and don’t even start me on snacking and working from home!! 😉
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
I need that quiet time after bed SO much. I always sneak treats after they are all tucked in.
Janine says
Aw, me too totally, Robin 😉
The Pinterested Parent says
My husband and I are major binge watchers & late night snackers. I love our time. With our schedules, we do not get it much.
Janine says
Yup, same here and just do look forward to this time as much I we get it, as well 😉
