More Firsts Week 2…
More Firsts – Fall Soccer 2014…
It was definitely touch and go, but after barely getting a parking spot, we raced to caught up with already marching team. But we made it and the rest if history. Wonderful day for a parade with the humidity of the last week breaking and also warm, but comfortable afternoon to play with the rest soccer for Emma and her new team.
Sunday, truly, was a blur to me though and then came Monday morning hitting the pavement running.
Even More Firsts – Last year of pre-school for Lily…
For not only was it Emma’s first full week of Kindergarten finally, but Lily’s first day of her last year in pre-school.
New school, new teacher and just all around day of firsts for my baby, who was totally on cloud nine (even though so much was all new to her) and just couldn’t wait for this day all summer long – for whenever we passed her the school doing errands and such, she could be heard ecstatically screaming, “My new school!”.
And just like that, another one of my babies left me for school.
I got a text from Kevin about 20 minutes before I had to pick up Lily, “Enjoying your peace and quiet?”
Reality was I worked for almost the whole time she was gone and didn’t have a minute to breath.
But still, after those two hours were up, I walked (because yes her new pre-school is literally that close that we could walk to and fro.
She practiced her name and when asked what else she did was told all her day including getting to sing of all songs, “Let It Go” on the pre-school carpet circle – so the Frozen obsessed Lily was more the pleased with her first day of pre-school this year!
Still winning with more firsts for school here and another success story – thankfully!
And now it is that time of the week again and onto the HOP….

I loved reading about Lily’s first day of preschool – sounds like it was a very good day for her!!!
Lots of good links here already – I’m wishing I had some candy corns so I could make a candy corn martini!!!
Nellie @ Brooklyn Active Mama says
Your pictures are so adorable! It’s so nice that you got 2 hours of work time and I am happy you guys were able to make the parade after all. I can totally relate, it is so hard to get out of this house in the mornings!!
Emily says
Your girls are just sooo adorable! I’m so glad everyone is doing well with their “firsts” and “first of lasts” at school…I miss those days, but I know what you mean about those 2 hours flying by. I have 6 hours everyday and it STILL does not seem like enough time to get done what I want!
Rosey says
2 hours goes fast too when you’re working!
The pictures are great. 🙂
April says
Because it happens so rarely, I find that I get SO much done in two hours, more than I had planned for the day. I’ve unfortunately have gotten used to the interruptions and when I get the time, I’m finished before the time is up! 🙂
Michelle @ A Dish of Daily Life says
Yay to the start of soccer! I LOVE that banner Kevin made! That is awesome!
I’m going through a bit of withdrawal here…I had one kid quit this year. She decided to run instead, and it was her decision. I will miss the games, especially the high school ones, but looking forward to seeing her run now instead. The boys are still playing but my oldest will be off to college next year and my youngest has already said he is running in high school next year. So after this year, I will be a xc and track mom…no more soccer. 🙂 I linked up, thanks for the party, Janine!
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
Your girls are so cute. I am glad the new school year is going well.
Kenya G. Johnson says
Wow preschool is only two hours? You’d have to be on a serious mission to get something done in that short time. She looked adorable too 😉
Diane Roark says

I love the photos, Janine! Lilly looks so cute for her preschool photo and Emma is adorable with that awesome soccer sign (how did Kevin make that?). Awww the firsts. And the lasts. Sigh. The couple hours of quiet IS nice though… I hope they’re both loving school this week, too!!

Janine! Your world has been HOPPING! Praying you can somehow sneak a rest in somewhere–you need it! And your girls? Too cute!
Rabia @TheLiebers says
I’m glad you’ve gotten off to such a nice start to the school year. I know it’s probably a relief to have all the anxiety behind you now.
Jen says
It’s amazing how fast 2 hours can go. I felt the same last year for our half day kinder and this year when 3 out of 4 children are gone all day it seems crazy weird. Such great pictures and I am happy all of these firsts turned out to be good!
Tamara says
I cannot believe I just went through all of those pins.. but I did! I’m going crazy with Ahalogy tonight!
And good god, you’ll be doing kindergarten again next year? Sigh. We’re in this together!
I swear I’m having another baby if time doesn’t slow down soon.
But for now.. ah.. breathe. And work. Because we all know the extra time isn’t being used on ourselves!
Camille says
Aww, sounds like such an exciting week!! The girls are so cute, they look so happy as always. 🙂
Amanda @ Growing Up Madison says
Oh Janine the girls look so beautiful with their firsts. I am so dreading the day when Madison leaves me and goes off to school. I can still remember Kristal and now she’s off to College. Time goes by so quickly that we so need to cherish them all.
Alison says
Aw, she really does look happy! That is great!
And I know how time seems to fly by when the kids are at school. What peace, what quiet?
Jhanis says
How I wish that my kids’ school was close enough for us to walk! It would save my sanity. Commuting everyday is not for the weak and I am about to give up. Ugh.
Lily looks so cute!
Melanie Chisnall says
Sweet! I can’t believe how big your girls have gotten Janine, they are too precious. And so are your chats with Kevin 😉 Geoff and I chat during the day between work now and then and I love it. Congrats on all the ‘firsts’ and hope you have a lovely Thursday (almost weekend!)
thedoseofreality says
TOTES ADORBS!! My hubby used to send me emails/text like that after Abby started preschool, and I would respond the same way, so this totally made me giggle!-Ashley
Stephanie @ Life, Unexpectedly says
Love the pictures! Have fun in school, Lily!! Our Lily can’t wait for next Tuesday 🙂
Allie @ The Latchkey Mom says
Oh my gosh, you have been busy! SO many firsts, filled with bittersweet moments.
Ginny Marie says
This week I started teaching preschool again, so I’m left with less time to write and read blogs! The time that the girls are at school sure flies by, doesn’t it? But at the same time, I miss my girls when they are gone, as I’m sure you do to!
Aunt Gloria says
What a nice recap of the “firsts” for the girls of this school and soccer year. So glad they are both happy with their new classes and making friends. Hope next week goes smoothly and you get into the new routine. I know you are not enjoying your “free” time because you pack it full of other things you are doing. But at least you know where the girls are and you can concentrate on your other job(s). Have a great weekend. Love to all…..xxxxxooooo
Aunt Gloria says
Good for you and I know you will do well as the Class Mom if you get picked. I’m sure Emma will love to have you do that. My love to all.
Lizzy - Muddle-Headed Mamma says
Aw, the photos are all so lovely, Janine and I love the banner too!
Rea says
Your girls are sooo cool! And looking at your photos feels so heartwarming, you are a successful mom for juggling work and kids at the same time. It’s great that Lily’s school is just a short walk from where you live, at least that’s a bonus!
Brittnei says
Awww! First and last year there…I know that is something else that is bitter sweet for you. I can’t imagine. Seeing all of you all’s kids growing up makes me think about my baby getting older. Nooooo! Is all I have to say! 🙂
The Pinterested Parent says
