Back in 2010, I gave birth to my youngest two days before Thanksgiving Day.
I was actually sprung early from the hospital Thanksgiving Eve by my doctor. Why? So, I could enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with my new baby and family, too.
Well, this year my 8-year-old daughter shares her birthday with Black Friday or the biggest shopping day of the year.
For her big birthday celebration, though we are going back to Disney World for our second Mickey’s Very Christmas Party for holiday Disney Vacation the week beforehand. See my youngest is still quite Mickey Mouse obsessed. So, it made sense to treat her to this birthday/holiday themed trip.
Keep this in mind that when you are reading this today, my family and I recently returning from this Disney holiday themed vacation. So if I am still a bit MIA here today, you will know why.

However, each year I ask my girls their top 10 favorites to see if their answers have stayed the same or changed from the previous year.
So to celebrate on my site, I wanted to share some of my baby’s favorites now at age 8:
1. Favorite Color:
Teal!!
So, last year it was blue and I was sure she would say purple as her current teacher’s favorite color is purple. Therefore, earlier in the school year, my once blue loving girl was all about the color of purple. But now it seems teal is the clear winner.
While my girls are no longer Frozen obsessed, I know the root of the blue color love came from the movie, Frozen with Elsa wearing that now famous blue color dress. Elsa’s dress totally had a teal vibe to it. So, I guess this shouldn’t shock me!
2. Favorite Movie:
This one also changed from DreamWorks Trolls to The Emoji Movie.
Why?
Honestly, I am not sure other than my girl loves to text me with emojis. So maybe that has something to do with it
3. Favorite TV Show:
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I know she is 8 years old. But this kid still adores Mickey Mouse more than life itself. So, what can I say, but this one hasn’t changed from the time she was a baby. I guess she just has a very special place in her little heart for Mickey.
See this heartfelt crush has not changed from the time she was a year old.
Plus having visited Disney 5 times in the last 4 years has only aided to her Mickey Mouse love!
4. Favorite Book:
My girl is now in 3rd grade and absolutely loves to read. When she isn’t watching Mickey Mouse or playing with her big sister, she can usually be found with her nose in a book.
When I asked her for her favorite book, she told me Dog Diaries. Why? Because how could you not love a cute dog writing in their own diary!
5. Favorite Song:
Last year, she was all about “Get Back Up Again” from the Trolls movie. This year is apparently Can’t Stop This Feeling. Still a song from Trolls, but apparently just changed the song to another one from the same movie.
6. Favorite Drink:
Somehow her favorite drink hasn’t changed and is still Sprite, which she only gets to drink as a treat if we go out to dinner from time-to-time.
7. Favorite Activity:
When asked this question, she told me “Art”. I had to press further to be told drawing and painting. I guess she takes after her dear, old dad who happens to be our resident artist here.
8. Favorite Thing to Eat:
Once a picky eater, always a picky eater! I feel like Friends’ Rachel with Ross, where she famously stated quick frankly, “Once a cheater, always a cheater!” But still, this kid is my pretty picky eater. She does eat more and more each year. However, pickiness still reigns here. So, when asked for this year’s #8 answer, she told me quesadillas. Lately, she has been asking me to make homemade quesadillas for her. So, no surprise I suppose. But also pizza and mac n’ cheese are her go-to food choices.
9. Favorite Animal:
Finally changed this one up this year. As much as she loves our dog Elsa, apparently unicorns are tops at 8 years old! So, I need to make unicorn cupcakes I have been also told!
10. Favorite Clothes or Toys:
Sparkly clothes are in for 8-year-olds as she told me the more bling and glitter the better!
“8 Years Ago Today Though…”
Well, considering that Black Friday is once again my baby’s 8th birthday, I thought you’d like to read her birth story here.
