My Favorite Healthy Recipes for Slim by the Summer Week 4

Filed Under: Writing/Blogging Tagged With: Healthy Eating, Pasta, recipes, Smoothies, Tacos

When I first joined Slim by the Summer, my goal as I have listed here was to tone up and get in shape indeed for the upcoming summer.  Anyone that knows me or even follows my blog knows I love the warm weather and am so dreaming of it right now.

Still Time to Join Us!!

That said the colder, winter months have afforded me eating not as healthy as I should. I have a ton of healthier recipes, too in my arsenal and have been slacking.  These recipes were originally published on Hubpages to share with others to help them indeed eat healthier and as well as enjoy.

So with out further ado, I am listing my three favorite healthy recipes that were previously published on Hubpages and linked up right here for all of you. Just click on the links or the photos below for the actual recipes and/or original articles.

1.  Healthier Chicken Sausage and Peppers with Bowties:

Yummy Chicken Sausage, Peppers and Bouts

2.  Healthy Children’s Meal: Veggie Bean Tacos:

Yummy Veggie Bean Tacos

3.  Black Cherry Vanilla Yogurt Smoothie:

Healthier Black Cherry Vanilla Smoothie

So there you have it, I have given you two main course recipes that are healthier versions of their original counterparts, as well as a healthier alternative for a drink, snack or even a light breakfast or lunch.

Hope you enjoy these as much as we have in the past and hopefully will now make again for us in order to very much work on the healthier lifestyle I am now once again trying to incorporate back into our lives.

Happy Monday and eating, too all!!

Thanks, Janine for the Peppers, Chicken Sausage and Bowtie Recipe. I make sausage and peppers often and never thought to add bowtie pasta. And the black cherry vanilla smoothie looks scrumptious. Have to try it. You are a better chef than me! Love you.

    • Janine Huldie says

      February 11, 2013 at 7:06 am

My 2 year old loves this one Venassa, so it is worthy trying with her if you can, because mine is a very picky eater and still will eat this one 🙂

Oh YUM! I shouldn't have read your post now…we're about 15 minutes away from eating supper. I'm definitely going to try the bean and veggie tacos – gluten-free, yay! Thanks for sharing these. I used to complain about trying to eat healthy in winter until someone pointed out all the stews and soups you could make. There are many! Can't wait to put our slow cooker to use now that I'm home during the day 🙂

    • Janine Huldie says

      February 11, 2013 at 7:07 am

Melanie, I love my slow cooker and seriously that is one the best things about winter and the cold weather. I hope you do get to try the veggie tacos and enjoy!! 🙂

Lol, Kelly, I haven't published a new Hub article in weeks, too and my last was a holiday related one, so that shows how long. You can totally substitute flour tortillas here and have done that in a pinch when I have only had flour ones in the house. I am trying to eat healthier, but last night Kevin wanted boneless buffalo chicken tenders complete with french fries and veggies with blu cheese dip. Yeah, not my finest moment, but tried my best to eat more of the veggies than the chicken and fries (keyword here TRIED!). PS…I haven't weighed myself today and was waiting to do that tomorrow after a better day today hopefully!!

Diane, please there is no worries here. Trust me I am the first to understand trying to get to everyone on the linkups I host and worrying that somehow I am missing someone. You never need to apologize to me, because I totally know we are fiends and that means so much to me. Seriously, these linkups can drive us completely crazy and like I said I know from first hand. So no spool gives and thank you for hosting an awesome linkup 🙂 🙂
