Spring actually begins today. This truly is my favorite time of year as the weather warms up, trees, grass and flowers bloom and the general rule of thumb is that is is all about new beginnings. So this made me think about all the pictures I could use for Wordless Wednesday that has to do with this topic.
I could just find pictures of the pretty flowers or new foliage growth and call it a day, but I am not a gardner nor will I ever be, but I am a mother at heart. So this made me think of times of new beginnings with my own kids.
I could show you pictures of the actual pregnancy tests that were positive, when I first got pregnant (yes, I still have these pictures), but seriously who wants to see those! I could also show you pictures of me when I first started to look pregnant, again not really sure how many of you would find that interesting. I could also show you sonogram pictures (I have a ton–my sonographer was generous like that!) or even when I first gave birth to them (but think I have shared these before).
And then it dawned on me, we are Catholic (not the most religious, but still) and we do believe that new life is sprung when a baby is baptized or christened in the Catholic Church for the first time. So, I am going to show you pictures or each of my girl’s from their Christening Days.
Up first was Emma’s Christening Day, which was back in August 2009. Emma wasn’t even 6 weeks old here and we wanted to have her Christening Day as soon as possible, because as a teacher I was returning to work in only a few short weeks in September. Emma was small to begin with, but she looked like a doll in these pictures!
Int he two pictures above, it was Lily’s turn and her Christening Day. I was already at home with both my girls at this point having lost my teaching position due to the economy and budget cuts. So, this day was back in February 2011. Lily was just about three months old and there wasn’t as big of a rush due to the fact that I was home with the girls. You can clearly see she was a big bigger here then Emma had been on her day back in 2009, because Lily was older and also a bit bigger then Emma as a baby in general. By the way, Lily wore the same dress as Emma did, but allowed us to put the hat on!!

Oh Happy Wednesday to you too and thank you so much Erin. Loved that dress and searched high and lo at the time because Emma was so tiny and I also wanted something that was so delicate and pretty, too 🙂

Janine Huldie says
Thanks Cyndi and you too have a wonderful day now!! 🙂
Kera says
Sofia's christening was one of the best days…I'll always remember it. We're Lutheran, so we still do the christenings, which I am glad that we do. Sofia was 3 months old when we had hers. Both Emma and Lily look so adorable in their dresses! Did they wear the same one?
Janine Huldie says
Kera, I too will never forget either of their days and yes they did wear the same dress. I figured I loved the dress for Emma, why mess with perfection!!! 🙂
Considerer says
Ahhh they looks so peaceful and happy.
Janine Huldie says
Thanks a ton and Emma was a horrible sleeper, but believe it or not she slept the whole day and right through the ceremony. The most peaceful she had truly been up to that point!! 🙂
Considerer says
Wow good for her! I guess that goes to show the power of getting Christened (or something). At least your day wasn't too fraught.
Janine Huldie says
Lol, I still remember one of my aunts joking about the power the christening with me that day, too!! 🙂
Diana C says
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Diana and very happy to share!! 🙂
Bill says
Great pics and great memories. Thirty years from now you will look at those pictures and have tears in your eyes…I know you will, Janine.
Have a great day my friend. Raining pretty hard here on this first day of Spring.
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Bill and have no doubt the sentimental sap in me will definitely shed a few tears over these. Was also thinking about you with the weather and hoping the wind isn't too bad my friend!!
Susan Zutautas says
They're beautiful!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Susan!! 🙂
Lanaya @ Raising Rea says
Both your girls looked like dolls … how sweet! I have never been to a christening before. I love the gowns that are vintage in nature. So pretty.

Dysfunction Juncetio says
Look at her in that little bonnet! Seeing pictures of your girls always makes me want one of my own! I went out and bought my boy's pink Polo's to wear for Easter and you would have thought I was asking them to put on a "Kick Me" T-shirt! Oh the protesting! 🙂
Katie~
Janine Huldie says
Lol, Katie. You just made me laugh on the pink polos and could truly hears the protests. I think if I didn't have girls and only had boys I would probably be the same way and my boys would want to kill me!! 🙂
Rose A says
Aww, those are great pictures. 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Rose!! 🙂

Amy Perdew says
They are so beautiful. New beginning….always a Spring popular. I wish it was feeling like Spring around here. Mother nature is confused. The sun is on but the temperature is broken. It is in the 50's still…brrr! Beautiful Wordless W post mama!
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks Amy and same here. The sun was out, but it was 45 degrees and downright chilly today. So ready for Spring and someone actually reminded me last year on this date last year it was 72 degrees here. Yeah, kind of depressing that it truly doesn't want to warm up!!
Ruchira says
wow…precious captures and beautiful memories.
You look pretty in both, janine.
