“This Year I Will…” Finish this sentence with your New Year’s Resolutions!
Well Christmas has been over for a few weeks now. Plus, 2018 is in the books, as well. Therefore, we have recently entered a New Year.
But with a New Year comes new experiences, goals and more.
So, what better time than now to begin to do some 2019 soul searching?!

Therefore, that first sentence could be completed in many different ways.
For me, I know I have so much hope and plans for the upcoming year.
Such as I have a brand new reading goal for Goodreads. I also have a new Disney family trip planned for the upcoming year. I mean you know this girl just loves her Disney!
But I would also love to try a few new things, as well. So, I am still currently in planning mode for my blog and my life, as well. I mean just because January 1st and has come and gone doesn’t mean I have all my goals set in stone just yet.
But still, I know each year I make resolutions. Very often, I start off strong with these same resolutions. However, I find I have a hard time following through on some of what I resolve to do for the year.
So can I make resolutions and still keep these resolutions, too?
Well, I thought I’d take a better look at this to help myself, as well as others who are thinking about their own upcoming New Year’s Resolutions.
4 Simple Ways to Make and Keep Those New Year’s Resolutions
1. Have very specific and achievable resolutions.
When making resolutions you want to make sure these resolutions are specific and clear-cut. Also, these same resolutions should be achievable and not just pie in the sky resolutions. For example, setting a weight loss goal. Try setting an attainable weight loss goal that will work specifically for you in the foreseeable future. For me, I want to lose the 5 extra pounds. So, I am going to mix in cardio (Stationary bike) and sit-ups (modified for my lower back issues).
2. Make sure those resolutions can be measured easily.
Also when making resolutions, you want to have a way to measure that you are making headway with these resolutions. Take the same example with losing weight. You will want to be able to measure your weight loss by possibly writing down your weekly weight or even taking pics to see the difference weekly.
3. Relevant resolutions can make all the difference.
Once again, the resolution needs to work for you and your lifestyle. To make a resolution, such as running 10 miles a day to help with weight loss might work for some, but not for others. See let’s say you have never run before. Or you live where it is freezing and snowing every day for months on end. Running 10 miles for a new runner or one who lives where running outdoors just isn’t doable right now might not be a possibility. For the cold weather dweller, you may want to look into online workout classes or workouts that can be done indoors. Or for the aspiring runner, you may want to start out running fewer miles at the very least.
4. Know where to start.
So after all this, where do you start? Well, I have made a new printable for 2019 that should hopefully help with your 2019 goal and resolution planning.
Take a look at my newest FREE printable, “2019, This Year I Will”…

Janine, my life is one big resolution. I just keep going and going and going, one goal after another, finish one, start another…that’s just the way I’m wired.
And having said that, I have another goal waiting for me this morning. Have a great weekend!

Great printable, Janine! I like that it includes something to quit and something to let go of rather than all new things to take on. Brilliant!

AnnMarie John says
This year I didn’t make any resolutions. I’ve stopped making them years ago. However, I do intend to be more mindful and to focus on my health and family more. Stay away from social media and instead find constructive things to do with my time. I noticed that I spent way more time on Facebook and online than I did going outdoors. So this year it will be less downtime and more out-time.
Janine says
I love your ideas for this year and hoping to be more outdoors for sure here, as well once spring finds us 🙂
Meredith Spidel says

Confession time, but this year I made no resolutions. I may never make them again actually. Mostly because last year blew everything out the door. This year instead I am focusing on finding joy and happiness in whatever situation I find myself in. That being said, your printable fits pretty well that new habit I am hoping to keep, so thanks MUCHO!
Janine says
You are so welcome and trust me I have had years like this, too. So totally get it 😉

I love your suggestions Janine! I especially like your “I will” printable. How many times do we say, “I would like to”?! It simply doesn’t have as much power as I WILL!
