October 2013 GLOSSYBOX Reveal & October Daily #7

Filed Under: affiliates, beauty Tagged With: Beauty Products, GlossyBox, October, Reveal, Subscription Service

October Daily Day # 7~ Go without something (e.g. phone, twitter) for a day and tell us what it feels like.

Secret Obsession

I tried to go without makeup once and will tell you I felt naked, because I am very fair and have always had porcelain-like skin.  I also have dark circles under my eyes, which are genetic and have always had them, but they are worse when I don’t get enough sleep.

Back, when I was working full-time in my early twenties, I was feeling like taking a day off, but felt guilty about doing this.  I decided to go to work with no makeup on willingly and play up that I wasn’t feeling well.  My boss took one look at me and truly thought I was sick, because without makeup I do look a bit ghostly and totally played this up.  I was sent home early and didn’t even get charged for a sick day.

So this actually worked out pretty well, but for the most part I still hate the way I look with no makeup and usually feel quite uncomfortable if I go out without having done my makeup.  And totally the reason for my love of makeup and beauty products, too.

And now you know why I have a guilty pleasure and am in love with my GLOSSYBOX subscription and recently received my second box since I signed up with the October edition.

I will admit that as soon as I opened up my box, I dug in and started using all the items immediately, because this month had 5 beauty products that I could not resist and just were that awesome.

So sit back and let me reveal the October 2013 GLOSSYBOX now.

October 2103 Glossybox

October 2103 Glossy box

1.  BCBGMAXAZRIA-Bon Genre Eau De Parfum

Sensitive, mysterious and intriguing BCBGMAXAZRIA Bon Genre is a statement making fragrance inspired by the effortlessly cool sensibility of the urban rocker woman.

FULL SIZE $75 / 3.4OZ

My Thoughts~

I will say I love actual fragrance here and feel it is quite perfect for this time of year for Fall.  It is a bit bolder than those I would wear in the summer, but definitely not too strong that I would not want to wear.  I have worn it now pretty much daily and even carry it around in my purse.  My only complaint was it was a not the full size, but then again the full size does cost $75, so that would probably be asking for too much in a box that only cost $20 a month.  But it isn’t a small, inconsequential sample like you get at the cosmetic counter in the mall.  Take a look at the picture below to see it still is a fairly descent size sample.

2.  BE A BOMBSHELL-Eyeliner Pen in Onyx

Master your cat-eye look with a flick of this easy-to-use eyeliner pen.  The marker like tip is easy to use and goes on smoothly for precise definition while the long lasting, water resistent formula ensures your makeup stays fresh through out the day.

FULL SIZE $14.00 / .11oz

My Thoughts~

This by far is my favorite product in this month’s box.  Seriously, I have wanted to try liquid eye-liner, but used it once in the past and remembered how messy it was.  I have been using eye shadow to line with an eyeliner brush, but it doesn’t last all day.  This not only lasts, but is so easy to apply.  Seriously, I may buy this one even after it runs out.  However, it is full size so totally hoping it asts for awhile now.

3.  EMITE MAKEUP – Eyelash Curler

Accentuate your eyes this fall with impeccably curled lashes!  This eyelash curler has a special curved design that angles to suit all shapes and curls without disturbing the makeup underneath.  Your eyelashes with remain in perfect shape all day.

FULL SIZE $30.50

My Thoughts~

Believe it or not, I have never used an eyelash curler in all my time applying makeup.  Secretly, I always wanted to try one and not even sure why I never did, but this gave me the opportunity to do just that and I absolutely love it and it even came with extra pads, too.  I highly recommend this one and seriously have now used it for over a week and not sure how I ever lived without one of these in the past!

4.  NIOXIN – Diamax Treatment

To achieve a fuller looking head of hair this fall, look no further then Nioxin Diamax.  This treatment increases the thickness of the hair shaft and strengthens hair against breakage, which makes hair fuller and more manageable.

FULL SIZE $50.00 / 3.4OZ.

My Thoughts~

At first glance, I was a little disappointed that I received a product for thicker hair, since my hair is as thick as they come and I literally have enough hair on my head for about three people, but then I saw it also helps against breakage, which believe it or not, I just started to notice some breakage days before I received this (most likely from summer wear and tear with swimming and such).  So, just tried it for the first time and did notice that the breakage was definitely less noticeable, so that was a win for me in my book.  Plus, this was a full size product that is worth $50 that was included, so that to me was impressive, because I paid $20 for the box and this product alone more then paid for that $20.

5.  OCEANE – Makeup Remover Pen

The tip of the pen contains an odorless liquid makeup remover that does not dry out the skin.  It is perfect for removing excess makeup during application (for example, while perfecting a cat-eye) or touch ups during the day.

FULL SIZE $5.30 / 3 ML

My Thoughts~

My first impression when seeing this was that it was the perfect compliment to #2 (BE A BOMBSHELL Eyeliner).  But will admit that eyeliner isn’t going anywhere.  However, I decided to wear a bit of mascara after trying #3 (eyelash curler) and then I had a massage (facedown) for my back at the chiropractor and when I came back up saw some black marks on the crinkled paper that you put your face on.  I went in the bathroom there and sure enough, I looked a bit like a skunk with the black mascara down under my eyes.  Thankfully I remembered I put this pen in my makeup bag in my purse.  I used it and it worked perfectly.  For the price, this is truly a godsend for those types of moments when you need a quick fix. Totally would recommend this one!

WOW Janine, you got some NICE stuff in your Glossybox this month. I've seriously been toying with the idea of subscribing to one of these things. I would love getting surprises in the mail every month like this.

Robin, I love it and I did three months, because I wanted to see what it was all about and if it was worth it. I got one more month left and yes it is totally worth it and will be renewing for sure when my three months expires now!! 🙂

I don't like to go outside the house without makeup either, but some days I risk scaring others and just do it!:) I've been having eyeliner discontent issues lately so I'm going to try the one that came in your glossybox!

Emily, I would scare the masses at 36 years old with no makeup. I was in my 20s when I did this and it was bad, but not as bad as now! That said, I am so buying this eyeliner again when I do run out, because it is the first time I have owned eyeliner that goes on smoothly and perfectly with not much fuss. Seriously, I am not sure how they did it, but this is as close to perfect as eyeliner can get!

WOW! That box is a windfall! Those products ROCK. I've heard great thins about the Diamax Treatment. BUT…I cannot BELIEVE you'd never used an eyelash curler before!! If I had to pick only one tool, it would be that. Even without mascara, curled lashes just open up your eyes. I can't do without it! This one sounds cool! I'm due for a new one! –Lisa

    • Janine Huldie says

      October 8, 2013 at 8:18 am

I know Lisa, I am not sure how I made it to 36 years old never using an eyelash curler, but now that I have not sure I could go back! But seriously this box was awesome and my favorite was the eyeliner by far. So buying that one again when I run out, because I have never had an eyeliner go on so easily!! 🙂

  9. Niki says

I was so happy with the September box – I couldn't believe all the full sizes! So… I ended up not being able to deal and kept my subscription going. I just couldn't cancel after seeing this box!

    • Janine Huldie says

      October 8, 2013 at 9:46 am

I know Niki, I seriously only signed for the three months to see what I thought about it and now I totally re-upping when my subscription runs out next month. Totally worth the money alone in one product let alone 4 others on top of it. So happy with this monthly subscription that like I said I will not be canceling anytime soon either!! 🙂

oh no, I think you are quite beautiful Janine, but I understand how you feel…you need it as a comfort. We all have something that we need to make us feel good…like a security blanket. I always need to bring a bag and sweater, without a sweater or coat I feel I always need it.

I would have so much fun playing dress up with all that makeup.

      October 8, 2013 at 10:32 am

Thank you Karen for saying that, but I guess I can't help, but feel certain insecurities. And it is a lot of fun though playing with all this makeup. Reminds me of playing dress-up when I was my girls ages!! 🙂

I can totally relate to the makeup every day routine. As you know, I have that "sick" look without some color on my face, and like you, I never leave home without it! I laughed out loud at your story about going to work sans makeup and being sent home! The products in the Glossy Box sound very nice…..but I'm kind of settled on what I use for now. Maybe a few years back I would have experimented. Enjoy the products…..you always look beautiful! See you soon….xxoo
