How did we get to October already, let alone the weekend again is beyond me, but here we are. And now we are inching that much closer to Halloween, Thanksgiving, Lily’s 3rd Birthday and Christmas, too. Yikes, it is seriously flying by on me and wish the year would just slow up slightly for me to catch my breath or at least not have to begin worrying about Christmas shopping.
If I had a wand, I would try to slow down time right now, but unfortunately I don’t.
Day 5’s Sentence~If I had a _________, I would __________.
And God knows because of this, I am really going to have to start thinking about that for better or worse in the next few weeks now. I am honestly shocked Kevin has not had me ordering anything yet for the kids, because he is usually bugging me in August.
But nonetheless, this is in my near and immediate future, so brace for my whining and complaining here soon, because just as sure as the end of the year is coming, so is this, too!
But now instead of complaining, I want to share all about this week, but think I will let you in on all the good this past week, by getting the party started with Ten Twelve Thankful Things (sorry I had a few to spare again this week)~
My Ten (Twelve) Things of Thankful of The Week~
1. I know it was the first thing mentioned in this post, but seriously this has got to be number one for me this week., because being published in a book is something to totally be proud and thankful for. And I am and haven’t stopped smiling since Thursday when it was officially published.
2. Fall TV season starting–Big Bang Theory, The Goldbergs, Nashville, The Michael J Fox Show, even Modern Family. Thank god for our DVR for helping me to catch up on so many new shows this past weekend.
3. Finally, the movie This Is 40! with Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann was on HBO. I literally have wanted to see this movie from back when when it was playing in the theatre, but never made it there. I have waited patiently for it to be on cable, because we pay enough for cable TV and damned if I would pay On Demand for it. I am not 40 yet, but 4 short years from now I will be and thought who better to prepare for what I am in for then these two!! And my kids actually went to bed early on Saturday night, so I got to use the DVR again and stay up late to finally watch this movie.
4. Saturday night dinner out at TGIF’s. The girls are actually getting better to take out, who would have thought and another pleasant meal out was had!
5. Happy to be still have my one year blogiversary giveaway running and enter if you haven’t, because seriously who couldn’t use $400! Raffle copter is below.
Yay for One Year of Blogging!!6. Spending a quiet Saturday afternoon being able to switch out the spring/summer clothes out for the fall/winter clothes for the girls and myself. Feels good to be organized right now. Not sure how long it will last, but still feels good! But, of course, after I did this, we had a heat wave and temperatures in the 80s this week!
7. More Sunday morning soccer-Lily and Emma’s games still overlapped, but before Lily had to go play her game she got to practice with Emma and Kevin on their team. But then it was time for me to take her up to her field and watch her again, while Grandma was thankfully again there to cheer on Emma.
- 8. Sunday, I actually got out of the house for two quiet hours to using my Kohl’s Cash, with was a 20% coupon (yes wasn’t as lucky as the first time with the 30% coupon) for more leggings and new socks for the girls.
9. Then, I came home Sunday for Sunday night dinner with the in-laws, where we made our famous sliders and tried a new roasted red potato recipe that I will be sharing soon using of all things onion soup mix!
10. For the awesome PinCentive Blog Hop linkup again this week, where I am so blessed to be able to go through some of the most awesome pins out there and re-pin to try myself. I am a Pinterest junky so this one does really appeal to me on so many levels! And if you haven’t joined, linking up, seriously what are you waiting for?! But remember we are off for this week, but will be back the following Tuesday 10/15!
12. One more for good measure and I am, of course, thankful again that weekend is indeed here and hoping to relax a bit. Maybe even catch up on my DVR again this weekend!
Now if you missed a moment of this week’s blog articles, here is a recap~

How was The Goldbergs? I kind of wanted to watch it, but never did. I did watch the Michael J Fox show, but gave it up already. I also dropped that Robin Williams one because it wasn't funny….at all.
Janine Huldie says
The Goldbergs seriously is the funniest show. I am so enjoying it just brings me back to the 80s and totally feel right at home watching it. I never got to watch the Robin Williams show, but heard it was that good from Kevin's dad and I watched the first two episodes of the Michael J. Fox show, but was a bit up in the air about it. It was actually a bit uncomfortable watching, because almost felt like you were viewing his real life with Parkinson's (if that makes sense). So, I haven't watched the new episode yet and debating whether I want to or not.
Eddy says
Hi Janine another great post and a wonderful way to start off my reading day. Thank you so much again for your inspiration which is indeed catching. Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend with your beautiful family.
Eddy.
Janine Huldie says
Aww, thanks Eddy and truly can't say that enough. Wishing you too a great weekend and lots of love your way!!
Rosey says
Was Almost 40 good? I saw part of it on an airplane but then our dinner came and I never got to finish it.
Janine Huldie says
Wasn't as funny as knocked up, but definitely had its moments, but on the lines of Knocked Up was annoyed that even though you knew Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogan wouldn't be it that they made no mention of them and it was like they never existed in the first movie.
dishofdailylife says
Our book would make my #1 too!!
Janine Huldie says
I know Michelle, this really was so the highlight of my week, too. I hope we make #1 on all the lists now, too π
lrconsiderer says
Ahhhhh gorgeous list. Congratu-many-lations on being a Published Author Type now – what amazingness. And I love that you're able to take the girls out to dinner and know that they'll manage the experience well. What fun π
I hope you find lots of time to relax and enjoy those shows you have lined up – thanks as ever for joining in and bringing all your thankful things of loveliness.

Thanks so much Lizzi and just a great feeling, which I think you can totally relate to π And the dinners are actually getting better out, which like I said has become a nice change of pace, because for a few years now I have gone out with them, but always feared the worst that they could do! But still Happy Saturday and you know I love joining in. Really makes Saturday that much sweeter!! π
lrconsiderer says
I can indeed – more on that soon. Kinda wish mine was something fun and exciting though, rather than vital and heartbreaking, but hey-ho, different paths etc π
It must be so nice when you finally feel you can relax in a restaurant with them, after all that anxiety.
The weekends are just LOVELY with this hop π

I know and so excited for you, too Lizzi. I promise you though that someday it will be possibly along these lines. We went out to meet a friend for dinner tonight and this time out Emma was not as good. So, probably spoke too soon. But you are so right about the hop making that weekend that much more lovely indeed!! π
lrconsiderer says
I am writing nothing off, and expecting nothing.
Shame Emma didn't manage to keep the track record up. But there will be other times, I guess π Loving the hop this weekend – it's done some absolutely fantastically MARVELLOUS things.

Janine Huldie says
Ok, that is absolutely awesome and seriously so glad it has done MARVELLOUS things. And you are right, I am sure we will have other nights that she will do better. Also, I have learned on quite a few occasions to never say never and to keep hope alive (I am so doing this for you and got fingers and toes crossed here!).

Thanks. You and Dana can look after it for me π <3

Curious to what you think about "This Is 40." My husband and I abandoned it halfway through, and we rarely do that!
So many thankful things! The book is top of my list too! And I thought "Modern Family" had a very nice start – very well written.
Janine Huldie says
Tamara, it was definitely not as good Knocked Up and I did make it all the way through, but was truly hoping for better to be honest. Happy I got to see it and not spend an extra dollar though in the theatre or on Pay Per View. And totally did love the start to Modern Family this year, too!! π
Stephanie says
I'm glad your girls are getting better at going out as well. There was a point when going out for dinner was so stressful I rather stayed home, cooked, and did the clean-up than taking them out. Such a cute picture of Lily!
Congrats again on being published, SO exciting!!
Love the soccer game picture as well. Is that a pink soccer ball?? Awesome!!
I sorted through the girls' closets before I got sick, just to see what they need. Still I could go out and buy so much cute stuff for them.. Aaaaarrrrrrrg!!! Switched the long sleeves and short sleeves in Lily's closet today, so she can reach the long sleeves when she dresses herself and doesn't show up in short sleeves every morning π
Enjoy your weekend!!!
My recent post Week In Review – Ten Things Of Thankful (12)
Janine Huldie says
Stephanie, hope you are enjoying the weekend so far and feeling better, too. And I thought we were getting better, but tonight Emma was a bit of a beast and complaining about having to sit still for about 45 minutes and Lily (after a long, busy day) fell asleep and was sleeping on Kevin while he was eating. So definitely had a few more stressful moments on this evening out. Just thankful that we did get to go out I suppose.
Nikki says
Isn't it great to start the week by thinking about what you are thankful for? I'm envious of your organization, and thinking I should be getting organized instead of typing! Hee hee, ah, guilty pleasures… Congrats on the book!
Nikki
My recent post Crazy Busy-ness
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much Nikki and I am getting better with organizing, especially leaving my writing time for when my girls are in pre-school (the quiet time really is so very welcome and helps when trying to concentrate). And you are so right I can't think of a better way to start and end my week with all things thankful!! π

Congratulations on being published!

Congratulations on the book!! Such a big achievement!
Good for you, going through the boxes of clothes for the new season. It is a chore I dread for many reasons. Mostly because there are six kids who have to go through the trying on and taking off and clearing out of the dressers. One Saturday afternoon just doesn't give us enough time for it.
Our 5 year old got to experience his first soccer game in a downpour today. Have your girls had the pleasure of experiencing playing in the rain yet? π
My recent post 10 Things of Thankful, Week 18
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much Christine and they played once so far in the summer in the rain, but I am sure there will be many more times to come!
Dyanne@IWantBacksies says
Congratulations on being published! That's so exciting!
I LOVED the movie "This is 40."
Isn't it fun to change out your clothes for the new season? I'm afraid to do it yet, since we had temps almost to 90 this past week.
We love roasted vegetables. We've roasted potatoes, carrots, onions, mushrooms, green beans, asparagus, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and brussel sprouts. Olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper and a really hot oven will make ANY vegetable taste good!
My recent post Too Many Thursdays, Found Money, and a Survivor's Story
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Dyanne and definitely did enjoy This Is 40, too. We also had temperatures in the high 80s this week and just so crazy. And totally agree with you on the veggies, because I am a huge fan here, as well!! π
notinjersey says
that picture of the hbo logo brought me back! I even remember the little tune they played with it! also, onion soup mix is awesome in recipes!
Janine Huldie says
Totally remember that song, too! So with you on the onion soup recipes and very much agree!! π
Sandy Ramsey says
Well, Miss Janine..did you find room to breathe this week? You are a whirlwind! Like the rest of us blogger Moms, I suppose! Sounds like you find time to enjoy the simple little moments. But the BIG moment…the book! I am proud to have been able to read it and review it and I have to say it is fantastic! I am so proud to "know" about half of the incredibly talented Mommas! Way to go! Enjoy the rest of your little moments this weekend!
Janine Huldie says
I saw the review and thank you so much for all your lovely and kind words there. When I saw your name, I was smiling from ear to ear, so thank you for that. Just seriously so glad I have gotten to know you through the blogging world!!! π
anothercleanslate says
Congratulations on the book! I need to follow your lead and get organized. Hope this week is equally good!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Kate and I am still such a work in progress with organization, but also wishing you a great week ahead, too!! π
Karen says
I know it's going so fast and I have little time to do it all and seem to slow down to enjoy it. I got the book, but haven;t had time to read it….would you consider recording it onto CD version? LOLOLOLOLOLOL though, I'd probably crash my car from laughing so hard.
I love the fall TV…haven't see BBT yet, but the Goldbergs rock and LOVE the new shows Back in the Game and Two Dads…too funny. I love that Bones, Law and Order SVU is back on too.
My recent post Comment on Mommy Monday Blog Hop by Janine Huldie

I know Karen, trust me time is really just flying by and I don't work outside the home. Seriously you are the best fro buying the book and trust me I know how precious your time is right now, so just that you bought it totally put a smile on my face this morning. Same here, we are loving the Goldbergs, Back in the Game and Two Dads. Seriously, some great new sitcoms on now! π

Thanks so much Lorraine and am so happy to have you following me, too!! π

I can't wait for that potato recipe! I love potatoes and those looks so great! I saw the this is 40 movie, it was semi vulgar but it was still sorta funny!
My recent post Conversations On The Train
Janine Huldie says
Promise to get that recipe up soon and I know it was definitely a bit vulgar, but just happy to get some much needed adult laughs that night! π
