Here are a few organization tips for every part of your home:
1. Kitchen
While we’re stocking up on tons of non-perishable goods, create room in your pantry by cleaning out old items you haven’t touched in months (for some of us even years). Start by removing expired and stale foods, and follow it up with a deep clean of your oven, dishwasher, cupboards, and refrigerator. Be sure to sweep behind all the nooks and crannies you’ve probably missed over the years.
2. Bedroom/Closet
Be sure to swap out your winter basics for spring essentials. While we can’t go outside yet, why not box up your winter coats, gloves, and bulky sweaters while you finally have the downtime to clean. It’s a quick and easy way to be productive and maintain your regular winter to spring transition routine amidst the madness.
3. Home Office
Now that many of us are working from home, use everyday office supplies that you likely already own, to organize your space. For example, binder clips attached to the side of your desk can tidy up loose wires and keep them from constantly slipping onto the floor while you work. Make sure that all of your important documents are kept in folders and boxes if possible to keep your home office space neat. Additionally, drawers and shelves should be your best friend – they can help you stay put together from organizing papers to storing books, small plants, photos and more.
4. Living Room
You’re probably spending more time in the living room than you ever have, putting more wear and tear on your furniture, and if you have kids it’s probably worse. Make your space a bit more open and airy to add comfort for you and your family. Putting away anything extremely nice or easy to ruin will put your mind at ease whether you’re lounging around by yourself or running around with the kids. Even laying out throw blankets and quilts over your couches and other furniture will help keep stains and spills at bay.
5. Bathroom
Don’t underestimate the importance of over-the-door hangers! These hangers typically come with both hooks and shelves for your items. Make sure to hang your towels and rest your shower supplies on the shelves, it helps free up space on your countertops and in the bathtub, automatically making the room look more tidy and sleek.
