“It’s easier to show you in person than to write up how to do it so if you have a question I can show you. We sell specially sized and colored rubber bands to do this. They have to be small. And there is also a loom to make them too but we don’t have the loom yet so we are just showing people how to do it themselves. It’s pretty simple when you do it once. Let me know if you have any questions.”
And thanks again Michael for sharing another wonderful craft with me!!

I know I have such fond memories of making the yarn bracelets back in the day that I was loving sharing this!! 🙂
Kalyn Brooke says
These are really cool, I remember my cousin and I spending hours making thread bracelets as kids. I am glad to see that the youth of today is spending time creatively (and craftily) instead of just texting or watching tv.
Thanks for sharing!
Janine Huldie says
My pleasure Sharing Kalyn and I know I have such fond memories from when I was younger making yarn bracelets myself!! 🙂
katbiggie says
It really reminds me of the craze when we were kids with making bracelets with the thread. Remember those? I had about 1000 little things of thread that I made friendship bracelets with! I have seen these little bracelets – someone gave one to my son the other day. I think it is a great way for them to spend their time. Better than watching TV!

I totally remember those Alexa and made a ton of them. I had the yarn in all different colors, too. So much fun and I guess this is similar now with this generation!! 🙂

Dana, I know most of the crafty places here are also starting to carry, too. Our local card store had them yesterday when I went in there for something. So, I hope if you are interested you can find them somewhere close to you, too!! 🙂
Dana says
My son just bought this kit with his birthday money and has been busy making tons of these bracelets! Much easier than those macrame bracelets I used to make!

Very clever. I'm sure Bev's daughter will have one soon if it is a craze. Seems easy enough to make.
Have a great work week Janine and thanks for being you.
Janine Huldie says
Oh let me know, because I am telling you it is huge here and everywhere you turn around kids are making and wearing them. And the same to you Bill, enjoy the week ahead and keep being just you, too!! 🙂
tamaralikecamera says
Whoa, some of them are really advanced! I love that you shared this. Thanks, and to Michael too!

Janine Huldie says
My pleasure and I have an even more advanced version and was toying with sharing that version soon. Do you think that would be too much to put up or be of interest to see how you can make them in a different form?
tamaralikecamera says
Oh, I don't think so! I guess you can base it on the comments you get at the end of the day but if it's a trend, then it's not overkill!

Yay and I just wrote it up during a quiet time this afternoon and made up a graphic for it, too. I figured what the hell and it is crafty and fun for all who to try. So why not!! Thank you seriously for saying that!! 🙂
Crafty Spices says
Oh yes, I would do these as a kid, we had so much fun doing them. I had totally forgotten about them. I'm sure now it's much easier since we had no kit just play rubber bands and hands :).

Kristi Campbell says
Those bracelets are so cool! When I first read the title, I thought about those animal-shaped rubber-bandISH bracelets that were cool a couple of years ago but these are way better. Thanks, Janine!
Janine Huldie says
I know and it is funny Kristi, because when my brother first mentioned this to me, he said it is not those silly band bracelets, lol!! I actually taught when those were crazes and seriously will never forget getting them as gifts from my own students, but these definitely are more crafty, because you are making them yourself instead of just buying and wearing. My pleasure though and happy to share!! 🙂

that is so cute. i remember bracelets being a big thing when i was a kid. remember the ones that were knit or crocheted, i forget exactly the technique. but everyone had different designs, but they all pretty much looked the same. oh and the madonna bracelets too!
Janine Huldie says
Catherine, I totally made those crocheted bracelets too and had a bunch of them, as well as I owned the madonna bracelets and gloves, too. So many memories!! 🙂
Karen says
it's amazing what things will be big hits with kids! I remember making similar bracelets with string when I was a teen.

I know Karen, same here and I love seeing the latest hits with the kids and know it is only time before my girls will be old enough and then will get to see what they are into, too!! 🙂
Amy says
I saw these recently and I so wanted to go to the free Rainbow Loom "Make and Take" at AC Moore this weekend. I was so sad to have missed it, my hubby was working and had the car. I went with the other fad the silly bands, but they ended up all over the floor and broken quickly. I decided to pass this one up. My daughter has not asked for them, so I will leave it at that. Great job rocking the band though. 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks Amy and totally all my brother with rocking those bands. I haven't gotten into it myself, but from the looks of it, it is huge right now. But I hear you on passing it up and that is only because my kids are still a bit young, but I have a feeling if there were a few years older, I wouldn't have a choice, because even my 8 year old niece is into these!! 🙂
realhousewife says
The bracelets are SO CUTE! I bet my daughters would love to make and wear them! Thanks Janine…I'll see if I can find them here…if not maybe ill have to order some:)
Janine Huldie says
I hope you can find them Kelly and know AC Moore definitely carries them and even Michael's, too. I am not sure what craft store you have near you, but it sems to be big at many of the local craft stores around here. 🙂
Sandy Ramsey says
I finally broke down and bought the Rainbow Loom just this weekend. I waited because I have spent more money on passing fads (i.e. Silly Bands, Bakugan, Pokemon, those little Japanese erasers) and I wanted to see if it would pass. It didn't and I am now wearing my four brand new rubber band bracelets!

Sandy, my niece is the same way with these and I now own four here too with promises of more!! 🙂
Mary Belle says
That's so cool! I don't remember having something like this when I was a kid! Too bad! Hahah~ I loved the braided ones! 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Mary and I too had friendship bracelets as a ki, but the rubber band craze was way before my time. Although now my 9 year old niece has made me 4 and just love them!! 🙂
