*I was sent a free bouquet of flowers from ProFlowers, but all opinions in this article are my own.
“You don’t like my birthday?”
Before I found the words to respond to my younger daughter’s statement, I felt a lump in my throat form.
See I never have minced words about my love of the summer season nor have I lied about my pure loathing and distain for colder weather that comes with late fall and winter here.
But now I had to admit, that as much as I am truly not a fan of the colder seasons and weather, my younger daughter’s feelings were so much more important than my own.
Quickly, I responded that while I do love summer, beach weather and more that comes with summer, that I do also have a special place in my heart for Fall, because my favorite holiday of Halloween, plus pumpkin and apple picking, as well as pumpkin spice are all tops in my book. But the biggest reason, I now love fall, at this point in my life, is that we celebrate her birthday right before Thanksgiving and can never quite forget the day she entered our lives – ever.
My youngest daughter was satisfied with my explanation and answer for now, but still summer, does hold a special place and yet all good things do have to come to an end.
And as much as I would love #SavingSummer for just a bit more, September 23rd marks the first day of fall, and before we know it the stores will be filled with holiday decorations, promotions and more.
So as we are indeed heading to Fall, ProFlowers, while excited for the holiday season to arrive, are also just not quite ready to say “goodbye” to summer, which is why they put together their own #SavingSummer campaign.
And as a part of this campaign, ProFlowers, offered to send me one of their summertime bouquets complete with a brand new vase to help inspire me to share something that I wished that I did this past summer, but for whatever reason just didn’t have time for.
I have to admit though that there really wasn’t much that we didn’t get to do. Plus this past summer was one of the best we have had in quite some time, because of the time we spent as a family, including beach trips, summer evening concerts, fireworks and of course our Disney World trip that our family took. Therefore I don’t have much in the way of regrets for this past summer, but I admit even over a month later after we returned from our magical family vacation, I am still Disney dreaming.
So much so that I have pretty much convinced my husband that we should return next year now to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary as a family for another go around.
Yup, you read that right, I am pretty sure we will be doing Disney again next summer and couldn’t be more excited to say this here. Which gives me even more to look forward to for the next summer now.
[Tweet “How are you #SavingSummer this fall? @ProFlowers #ad”]
But until next summer, I am going to hold onto the last days of summer while I enjoy my most beautiful flower bouquet for the next few weeks, thanks to ProFlowers and then get ready to embrace Fall and all that it has to offer, including happily celebrate my younger daughter’s birthday.
See I chose the Premium StarGazer Lilies to not only remind me of summer, but of my younger daughter, who just happened to be named Lily after the famous flowers after our above conversation. The flowers are just as beautiful and spectacular as my daughter and can’t thank ProFlowers enough for sending me this premium bouquet of flowers.

Aw, totally my pleasure sharing ProFlowers and totally am a huge fan of them. I have ordered from them in the past and was so happy to get to work with them on this campaign with their beautiful flowers and share more of my summer here, too! Hugs <3
Seana Turner says
I love getting a stunning bunch of flowers for sure! Especially when they come for no specific reason.. just a “thinking of you” bouquet. I hate the end of summer as well, but might as well bring in something pretty to help lift your mood as the weather cools.
Janine says
I totally agree, Seana and this bouquet definitely lifter my spirits for sure! 😉
Nicole Johnson says
I totally understand about having a child with a birthday in the winter when you are a summer lover (though I also love fall). Beautiful flowers! I wish I could order them more often but I never think of it. Thanks for the info.
Janine says
So glad it isn’t just me, Nicole and truly felt like such a heel after my younger one picked up on it. And happy to share the info, as well here 😉
Jhanis says
They are lovely! I do miss summer especially that it has been raining a lot over here lately which kinda suck because I love the sun! I’ll take the heat anytime over rain! 🙂
Janine says
You and me both, Jhanis as I am so not a fan of rain in the least. No rain just yet here though, but sure it is coming!
Carrie Groneman says
Absolutely beautiful flowers! What a great deal and a fabulous idea to brighten any day. Thank you Janine for this information. Have a terrific week. Carrie, A Mother’s Shadow

What a gorgeous bouquet. There is nothing like having fresh flowers in the house.
Janine says
Thanks Robin and I know just couldn’t agree more 😉
Bill says
The wrong person is reading this, Janine. Bev doesn’t like cut flowers. I’m off the hook completely thanks to choosing the right mate. LOL
Happy Monday my friend.
Janine says
Aw, Bill that is why you and Bev are truly perfect for each other. Thanks always and have a wonderful Monday again, my friend!!! 🙂
Echo says
You can tell her that I love fall because of Halloween and my birthday too!!! Those flowers are gorgeous, by the way.

Janine,
I admire you so much for taking the time to enjoy your husband and girls. Life gets so busy but you all will never forget the summer of 2015. I am the opposite of you when it comes to weather. Living in Mobile, Alabama near the beaches and New Orleans was so HOT all the time I truly do not like summer. The main difference in where I live now in Arkansas is that Arkansas actually cools off at night. In the deep south, the nights are as hot as the days. BOO! My kids hate the heat so much they want to live in Alaska. Working outside or spending anytime outside will dehydrate you in minutes. Trust me, I had to go to the hospital from mowing the grass. The idea life would be to vacation in the southern states in the winter and go up north, Maine or Alaska, in the summer. We are so hoping to make another trip to Alaska next summer. I loved visiting upstate New York. It is beautiful too!! I am so thrilled you all had a great time at Disney. We use to go every Feb. to get away from all the Mardi Gras Maddess. It was the perfect time to visit Disney. Great weather and not very crowded. Last year, we decided to go at Christmas because we had never seen all the breathtaking Disney decorations. The decorations were pretty but we will never do that again. It was even more crowded than summer.
Your Lilly’s are perfect not to mention beautiful! I will have to remember ProFlowers next time I send flowers. I have in the past received a ProFlower arrangement for my birthday. I took a picture because I thought they were so pretty. I hope Lilly has a super birthday this November. Many blessings to your sweet family!
Diane
Janine says
Aw, thank you so much again, Diane and I was wondering about Disney at Christmas time, but had heard from another person that it was indeed busy, but still must have been so nice seeing it all decorated at the very least. Can’t even begin to imagine the type of heat you described. Had a small to see it a bit at Disney this past summer, but still not on the scale you described. Hoping next summer you can indeed head north to cool off a bit though for sure 🙂
Chris Carter says
Oh what a GLORIOUS bouquet!!!! And so perfect for your precious Lilly!! There is nothing more beautiful than a vase of flowers inside our homes to remind us of the beauty of summer… as it slowly fades away. I am SO happy for you- having such a WONDERFUL summer with your family. And Disney next year? Awesome!!!!
Janine says
Thank you so much Chris and I totally agree about a beautiful vase of flowers – nothing quite compares!! 🙂
Kristen says
How did you know I’m obsessed with flowers?! Totally checking out Pro Flowers!
Janine says
Did not know and seriously so glad I shared with you now!! 🙂
Jen says
Oh your sweet girl! My middle daughter’s birthday is right before Thanksgiving too, but here in SO. AZ it is kind of like our spring time, because summer is soooo hot! I love the whole idea behind this, because flowers just make people happy no matter when they are given!
Janine says
Jen, I totally agree and what I wouldn’t give for November to be more spring-like here though!! 🙂
Allie says
I love Pro Flowers and have been using them for years. Thanks for the coupon coded! I always send my daughter flowers on her birthday:). And I LOVE Stargazer Lilies – so pretty.
Janine says
Aw, yay and so happy you can use the coupon, too Allie!! 🙂
Alison Chrun says
I LOVE Fall! I’m so ready to say goodbye to the dead heat in my city!
Janine says
Alison, I know we went apple picking on Saturday here and it was pretty hot. It cooled down though a bit yesterday and today, too now.
Kelly L McKenzie says
Saw your apple picking photos on both FB and Instagram and was delighted. I’m a Fall lover. You would have adored our summer weather this year, Janine. We didn’t have rain for a full three months which is really unusual for us here on Canada’s “wet” coast. Had rain this weekend and everyone was thrilled. The leaves are now turning as are the pumpkins!Yikes. We’re all a bit concerned with the fact that all the pumpkins are orange and it’s not yet October!
Your bouquet is really gorgeous. Love what you chose and the fact that your daughter is named after them.
Janine says
Kelly, same here as far as the rain. We barely had any at all this summer. Not that I am complaining as some summers have been a complete washout, but this one was anything, but. Still curious to see how fall and winter will shape up with rain and snow now. Glad you got to see my apple picking photos and hope to share more here soon on my blog as we are heading further into fall now 😉
Nellie @ Brooklyn Active Mama says
I have been a big fan of proflowers for such a long time! Those that you got were beautiful. 🙂 Of course you are going back to Disney–it’s such a magical place to vacation!
Janine says
Aw, Nellie you know it about Disney and thank you always, my friend!! 🙂
Bev says
Summer always goes too fast, but I do love the fall. Doesn’t hut that I’m a fall baby as well 😉 Enjoy the flowers, they look beautiful.
Janine says
I truly agree Bev, even though I am a summer baby, I do have a special place for fall, as well. Thanks 🙂
Jennifer | The Deliberate Mom says
I LOVE your bouquet.
The smell of lilies is probably one of my favourite fragrances. It’s such a happy smell.
Thanks for sharing. I’m all about the saving summer too 😉
Wishing you a lovely week my friend.
xoxo
Janine says
Aw, thank you so much Jennifer and I am so with you on the sweet and happy smell of lilies, too. Have a wonderful week, too xoxo 😉
Aunt Gloria says
I am getting mildly depressed to think summer is over! The weather is still lovely but I am already feeling the “cold” and will be happy to get to Florida. I have been using ProFlowers for years and have always been satisfied with their arrangements. Your flowers are beautiful and enjoy them. Lily’s Nov. birthday helps make the season more friendly…sorry I won’t be here to celebrate. But hope to see you before I leave. Love to all…….
Janine says
Aw, I know Aunt Gloria and at the very least you can escape the winter. I truly am not looking forward to January, February and even March as I know the reality of it by now. But still the fall isn’t terrible by any means, just what comes after. Hope to see you too before you leave now xoxo and send love back at you!
Aunt Gloria says
Thanks…..xxoo
Janine says
Xoxo <3
Tamara says
ProFlowers is the BEST! They’re unmatched. I got the tip to use them from an old co-worker, and sure enough, nothing is better. I used to send them to my grandmother all the time, just because. She loved flowers until the end!
Janine says
Aw, so did my grandmother, who always told us to give them to her while she was alive and not come baring them with tears at her graveside. So, totally used ProFlowers for mine, too.
Rea says
Beautiful flowers Janine! And the vase looks really nice too. Flowers can really add life to our homes!
Janine says
Thanks Rea and the vase is truly gorgeous, as well. And couldn’t agree more with flowers adding life and personality, too to our homes 🙂
Kate says

Lillies are some of my favorites! I wanted some for my wedding bouquet but everyone freaked out because they’re supposed to represent death or some such drivel.. haha.. (I threw a couple lillies in anyway, haha).. great post! – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
Janine says
I never heard that before about lilies, but still I would have put a few in, too!! 😉
eli@coachdaddy says
Fall’s got it all – barbecue, football, my girls’ birthdays. I always give my girls bouquets when they’re in plays. Honestly, I should give them flowers more often.
Janine says
Aw, I love that you give the girls bouquets for being in plays and definitely agree more flowers more often!! 🙂
Cynthia says
I gotta say, I’m with ya on the cold front. Hehe. See what I did there?
Anyways, yes…the end of summer is bittersweet. I don’t like the cold – but I’m working on embracing how it makes me appreciate spring, summer and the fall. 🙂
I love Halloween, too!
And wanted to come by and say hi!
Janine says
I love what you did there and so happy you did stop by xoxo 😉
Leslie says
Stargazer lilies are my mother’s favorite; and I often send her a bouquet for her birthday and/or mother’s day. That bouquet from Proflowers really is beautiful…and I love the vase!

Janine says
Aw, thanks Kelly!! 😉

Gosh I need some flowers.. Somebody send me flowers!
Janine says
I know I felt that way recently, too and ProFlowers truly made my week with this bouquet!! 🙂
April G says
I love fall. It’s when the weather starts to cool, you make plans with family and friends and there are tons of holidays. Plus, it means winter is coming. Granted, I don’t live anywhere it snows, so I love my semi-cold winters at 60.
Janine says
I would love 60 degree winters! 😉
Hannah Iway says
Few years ago I told my husband not to buy me flowers because I want him to save money. But now, deep inside me I suddenly missed the feeling of receiving flowers. So recently I told him, he can now surprise me back by giving flowers, haha silly me! Honestly, those lilies of yours are just so beautiful. Looking at them, I know I made the right decision of telling my husband about it. Now all I have to do is wait!
Janine says
Aw, Hannah I hope you get those flowers very soon now, too 😉
