In the past, I have shared here how my kids love to go to McDonald’s. So over the winter break, my girls and I went to McDonald’s for lunch one of the days they had off.
During this visit, McDonald’s finally had their famous Shamrock Shake on their menu. Yes, it is indeed that time of the year for Shamrocks, Leprechauns and more with St. Patrick’s Day being right around the corner now.
So made sense to find McDonald’s offering this creamy and rich St. Patrick’s Day themed drink on their menu.
While I happen to love this shake, I don’t love the extra calories. Granted it is only offered for a limited time and is a special treat. But still I would rather a bit lighter version if possible. That is where the Shamrock Float Drink Recipe I make at home for us during this time of the year comes into play.
See my Shamrock Float Drink is still pretty sinfully good. But it is lighter and a bit less calories using lemon-lime soda instead of milk. Granted I still use ice cream. But still a few less calories and still as tasty as ever!
And this one pairs perfectly with the ever popular Lucky Leprechaun Fudge I make here for this time of the year, too.
Therefore, we can not only enjoy a festive and colorful dessert with green colored fudge. But also we can wash it down
with an equally cheerful and sinfully yummy Shamrock Float Drink, too.
See perfect St. Patrick’s Day celebratory food for all!

You should weight about 300 pounds if you eat all of the great food you showcase on this site. I know I would. Every morning you tempt me, Janine, and it’s just not fair of you. π
Happy Tuesday my friend. Busy day ahead. Take care and I’ll catch you down the road.
Janine says
Bill, I am definitely not 300 pounds. But I do like to eat, especially sweets π That said, my kids are my true taste tester for stuff like this. I usually defer to them. Happy Tuesday right back at you now!!

I think this would be perfect. Scarlet really likes shamrock shakes but she canβt stand McDonaldβs. This would be a way that we could all have what we want!

Wow! I’m sorry I missed this the first time around, but seeing the home page on your website, I’m guessing you have some Irish roots! HAHA. I love all the pretty green and it’s a nice contrast to your sweet pink!
As for this drink, I had to click on it because I am such a softie for anything that looks like a float (like a root beer float) but with the shamrock theme, omigosh! I love this!
Such gorgeous photos and your girls are too cute!
Sending you hugs and wishes for a fantastic week! xoxo
Janine says
Aw, thank you always, Cyndi. I am with you on float type drinks as these are favorites of my, as well. Many hugs and Happy Monday now once again <3 xoxo
