This 30 Minute Shrimp Lo Mein recipe is a sponsored collaboration with Mizkan and the Forward Influence Network. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Here is the deal. I have not made it any secret on my blog that my family has a picky eater. Preparing food for my picky eater is quite a challenge. Ordering out or even going out to dinner with our picky eater is also very tricky at times. When we order Japanese or Chinese food, for instance, her favorite is Lo Mein. Crazy enough, my picky eater loves Shrimp Lo Mein. I never would have guessed it but still. Recently, my mom actually suggested I make it for her. I never thought to make it myself. But low and behold, it is a lot easier to make than I ever would have thought, especially when using Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar and Mizkan Mirin.
To give you a bit of background around my picky eater, she is the one that told the staff at only 4 years old in Disney World’s Cinderella’s Royal Table, “Princess Lily only eats French Fries.” This comment came after she was told that Cinderella only ate mashed potatoes because that is all the restaurant apparently served. So, you can see that even from the earliest ages we had our work cut out for us. Even closer to home, when ordering out for food I find that my picky eater usually requires me to order only a few select options.
So, when we found out she loves Shrimp Lo Mein and my Mom suggested I make it for her, I couldn’t wait to give it a try.
For made-at-home Lo Mein, using rice vinegar and mirin add authentic Japanese flavors to my Shrimp Lo Mein Recipe. My favorite brand for rice vinegar and Mirin is Mizkan.
Why Mizkan?
Because Mizkan makes cooking, as well as enjoying authentic Japanese-inspired recipes at home so very easy. Because Mizkan is the secret ingredient that brings the flavor of Japan to your table at home.
Moreover, I simply love Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar, because it is the #1 Rice Vinegar brand in Japan*, which has only recently been launched in the U.S. Plus it is versatile enough to use in hot or cold dishes to enhance flavors. It also pairs well with making sushi, marinades, salad dressing or in your culinary creations. A huge added bonus is that it has zero fat and no calories. So, Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar adds a lot of flavor without any guilt. And can even be used in place of harsher tasting vinegar varieties with flavorful results. (*INTAGE SRI. As for Mizkan Mirin, it is a Japanese staple with a tasty trio of sweet, sour and bitter, while offering the perfect accent to any dish. Learn more about Mizkan Mirin here: http://bit.ly/MizkanMirin It can be used for homemade teriyaki sauce, braised meat and vegetables, tuna poke, miso ramen soup, and stir-fried udon noodles. Mizkan Mirin even brings out the tangy, rich flavor and shine to dipping sauces, broths, marinades and glazes.

Shrimp is something I like but rarely eat. It must have been cheap when I was a kid because my mom made a lot of shrimp salads. 🙂 Anyway, thanks for the suggestion and Happy Tuesday to you.
