“Sit Boo Boo, sit…good dog!”
“Did you just say Boo Boo?”
“Yes, why?”
“Because, it is Sit Ubu, Sit, Good Dog!”
“No, it isn’t!”
“Seriously, didn’t you watch Family Ties and NBC Sitcoms as a kid!”
“I am going to Google it right now, because you are wrong, my friend it isn’t Sit Ubu, Sit!”
“Go ahead you are wrong, because sadly I watched a lot of sitcoms and TV as a kid, so there is no way I am wrong on it being Sit Ubu Sit.”
Takes time to Google on his old iPhone 4 and slowly shuts his iPhone, while telling me, “You are wrong about Sit Ubu!”
“So, if I am wrong, why can’t I see what you found on Google?”
Because I am right and don’t need to show you, plus Boo Boo was on Yogi Bear, too you know.
Yup, this was an actual conversation, I had with Kevin after we got home from taking the girls out for dinner. I love the boy, but man he can never admit defeat or be wrong and even had to bring poor Yogi Bear into the argument when he was trying to refer comically to our puppy, Elsa.
Meanwhile, I took out my iPhone 6 and Googled searched for Sit Ubu, Sit when he still wouldn’t grant me a peek at his own iPhone.
Here is what I Googled and found it was Sit Ubu, because as Wikipedia states:
“Ubu Productions, Inc., is an independent production company founded in 1982 by television producer Gary David Goldberg. Ubu’s notable productions include Family Ties (1982–1989), Brooklyn Bridge (1991–1993), and Spin City (1996–2002). Ubu’s mascot is Goldberg’s dog Ubu Roi, a black labrador retriever which he had in college and subsequently traveled the world with. The closing tag for Ubu Productions is a photograph of Ubu Roi with a flying disc in his mouth, taken in the Tuileries Garden close to the Louvre Museum in Paris. Along with the picture is Goldberg’s voice saying “Sit, Ubu, sit! …Good dog!”, followed by the sound of a bark.”
Yup, there it was in black and white on Wikepedia about Sit Ubu, Sit and still he didn’t want to concede. Plus, here is the Youtube Video, I found, too where not only can you here clearly where the word Ubu, but actually spelled on the screen, too!:
I even made a phone call to my brother on speaker to confirm this and my poor brother was holding back laughter and a bit speechless following up with, “This is why I am so not getting married guys!”
Yup, married life is definitely never dull and I guess if this is the worst of our arguments I truly can’t complain, but still I wasn’t going to take wrong on this one, because damn it I was right.
As promised, I told Kevin I was dedicating this blog article to him on Sit Ubu, Sit and here it is!
[Tweet “#Silly #funny maritial arguments with #tvsitcoms and #puppies too!”]
Read it and weep, I was right (Ok, I have been wrong like here, but still!) – It is Sit Ubu, Sit – Good Dog…
I would like to thank all the little people, including Google and Wikipedia, and even my overmatching of 80s sitcom TV for making this moment possible!
Ok still, I took vows in good times and bad, but never said I was above blogging about when he was wrong and I was right.
And I leave you with this…
Nani, Nani, Nani, I was right, Kevin, you were wrong!! (Sorry for the gloating today, but just couldn’t resist).

The Time I Was Right & The King Was Wrong (AkA Kevin)!
And along the Elsa, Sit Ubu dog puppy lines, check out my new review for Influenster for Pedigree Dog Treat #Stackerz complete with a Doggilicious YouTube video, too here.

Isn’t it awesome when you are right and he is wrong? Sounds like a conversation Matt and I would have!
Kim @ HappyPrettyBlog says
Muahaha there’s nothing more satisfying than winning an argument with the hubby lol!
Tracy @ HandmadeWarratahstree says
Hi thanks for hosting. I think the only way I could get my husband to admit he was wrong is to add the caption to his photo like you did lol
Diane Roark says

This is too funny Janine. I would never be able to contend with a wide array of sitcoms, but my husband would! I feel like sometimes we will be watching something and he always knows references from different shows. He used to watch a lot of TV. He has several shows that he likes now, but it’s entirely different from what he tells me it used to be. I wonder if he used to watch this one. 🙂
Brittnei says
I asked him right now and guess what? He knew! Hahaha!
Michelle @ A Dish of Daily Life says
I thought it was Boo Boo too!!
Bev says
What?! You just totally blew my mind. I could have *sworn* it was “Sit, Boo Boo, Sit!” Well, now I know!
Tamara says
This is why we’re twins because I say that all the time! “Sit, Ubu, sit. Good dog! Rowf!” Honestly. Ask Cassidy how often I STILL bring this up, even though I haven’t seen it in years.
Made my night!
Rosey says
Hahaha, that’s funny that he wouldn’t even show you his phone. My husband gets defensive if he’s wrong, it’s quite comical. 😉

BWAH HA HA HA!! As soon as I saw the title of this post I was laughing…and having Alex P. Keaton flashbacks!! 🙂 Poor Kevin. Sorry dude, but no. This is where TV watching really pays off!-Ashley

Love that you documented this!! You can pull it out next time he thinks he is right.

Sit Ubu, sit. See, when you say that to kids these days, they don’t know what you mean. Kids who didn’t grow up in the 80s and 90s missed out on so much.
And this is an interesting phenomenon, what you have going on in your house. I always felt it was the man who apologized and admitted wrongdoing, sometimes even when it was actually his fault!
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
Hahah, yup, it’s Ubu. I tell my kids to “sit Ubu, sit” all the time and they think I am weird when I say it.
Kenya G. Johnson says
As big as dad UBU on the screen ALL THESE YEARS and I too thought it was “Sit Boo Boo Sit” and I probably would have argued the point. Even when I read your title, I was like “Ubu???” I am glad I read this just in case it ever comes up I don’t have to be “a loser”. LOL!!!!
Kristi Campbell says
HAHA Janine! I love that you posted about this because those are exactly the funny (but aggravating) arguments I get into with my husband! HAHA. love it. And I love that you called your brother as backup and his reaction that he’s never getting married.

Hello cute lady! I’m so excited to party with you this morning. I hope you get a chance to stop by our party. That would be so amazing! http://loulougirls.blogspot.com/

That sounds exactly like my husband! He totally never accepts defeat!
That picture of your Kevin is hilarious, make sure to post it on his timeline sometime!

Hahaha, this cracked me up so good and brought back so many memories!
lisacng @ expandng.com says
I never knew it was Ubu either! It must be fun to play trivia with you :). Alan and I “argue” sometimes about these little tidbits. We play for money that we put into a glass jar and then use that money for treats like ice cream or coffee. Over the summer, actually, we used it to go to the fair (as a family) and get dinner.

Thanks for hosting! I linked one last week for the first time but am a newbie and didn’t comment 😮 I am so excited to add another post this week though and find this wonderful place to party and find great ideas!
Nellie @ Brooklyn Active Mama says
LOL I love how you referred to his iphone 4 as “old” and for some reason I thought it said sit booboosit good dog! Good to know. I think I will test my hubby now too lol
Aunt Gloria says
When you’re right, you’re right….It’s hard to admit when you’re wrong but it gets easier. I’m sure you and Kevin probably come out even on the right/wrong scale!
Love to you both……
Camille says
Hahahahaha, love this post. Reminds me of my husband and myself!
The Pinterested Parent says
My husband & I always have arguments like this. I love Google. It always proves me right. Of course it is UBu, silly Kevin. Lol!
Rea says
Totally hilarious. Hahaha. Trust me I have so many similar conversations like that with my husband but most of the time, he wins!! Because he’s the king of american tv shows, sitcoms, movies, and all that stuff and he’s Filipino. I can’t believe how Americanized he is. He watches too many shows I never knew existed. Ahahaha. And I do hear that Sit Ubu often. Hehe
Justin Knight says
I learned something new today! I thought it was “Boo Boo” too! Yikes!
