Slim By The Summer Challenge Week #1:

Hurricane Sandy. Quite simply, I blamed a lot already on this and have one more thing to add to the blame game, where this storm is concerned. It was the beginning of me eating poorly and not really working out as much anymore. The storm occurred right before Halloween. So, not only was I hosting half of our family once our power came back there power didn’t leaving us with tons extra food in the house that I was preparing, but I also had a lovely amount of Halloween candy to go around, too. I found myself eating just pure garbage at this point and not having time to even think about working out.

Then, of course, the month of November completely got away from me with NanoWriMo, Thanksgiving, Lily’s birthday and so much more. More food consumption. And then it was December and Christmas and New Year’s. Yes, the bad eating habits just kept on coming.

Well, now it is almost the end of January and weighed myself for the first time in forever last week. Quite simply, I just didn’t want to know. while the damage isn’t awful and actually only put on around 10 lbs. I do feel out of shape for not having really been as active as I like though either.

So, when Lanaya from Raising Reagan and Anna from Geek Can Be Chic came up with the Slim by Summer Challenge, I knew it was time to join and at least be a bit more conscious of what I was eating and try to also be a bit more active again.

What is my overall goal? Well, I honestly just want to look and feel good as we head towards the spring and summer months. So, I have joined these wonderful ladies’ Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/slimbythesummer/ as well as re-downloaded My Fitness Pal to try to keep up.  So, if you have My Fitness Pal, look for me. My username is janinehuldie.

I am not necessarily looking to lose much, but just tone up a bit. To be honest, I have always been petite, but after having two kids my body will probably never be quite the same and would like to try to get my stomach and legs a bit firmer if at all possible. So that ultimately is my overall goal for this. Probably shouldn’t be complaining, because I am really not overweight for my height, but that said I just feel a bit more flabby than I would like to be from as I aid not eating properly and not working out much lately.

By the way, this week’s goal to not eat as much junk food as I have been eating and to try to find a few minutes a day to get up off my lazy butt and do a bit of cardio.

So, please join us if you dare and here is my swimsuit motivation. If this doesn’t get my butt in gear, I don’t know what will!!

I Know I will Never Look Like A Victoria Secret Model, But Still Like this Suit. Maybe, With a Bit of Toning Up I Could Wear This One.

    So funny that we kind of posted about the same thing today! Like you, I'm on the smaller side, so it;s not that I want to lose weight. I just want to tone up. The jiggle in my body is getting ridiculous. Anyway, here's to looking fab by summer!

      Dani, I know as I was reading and commenting on your page today, I was thinking the same thing. As for the jiggle it is ridiculous. I wish someone would have told me my breast would disappear too after giving birth twice, lol!! Cheers to you too for looking fab for the summertime!! 🙂

    That's awesome! I can't wait to read about your plan to slim down in time for summer. I'm also petite and also only exercise to get fitter and tone up, and constantly get annoyed at people saying, "But you're so tiny, you don't have to lose weight or diet!" Arrrrg. So be prepared for that, lol. We're going into winter now, but I find this is my favourite time of the year to work out because it's a good way to keep warm. I've also just gotten 3 new workout DVDs that I ordered in December and can't wait to give them a try. Yay for feeling good! 🙂

      Thanks Melanie and I am totally prepared to hear that. Believe me I am so not going to be doing too much just a bit of cardio here and there. In using My Fitness Pal, I found out cleaning counts and yesterday after eating a ton (I am PMSing), I still was under my calorie count (not by too much) by having done some light cleaning. So, I do like using this program, because it is also helping remind me to eat properly and enough (with two kids I do eat my three meals, but they are not always enough on the pate, because I eat quickly!!). So this is going to help me see that, too. Thanks and love to hear more about those DVDs 🙂

      Bill, you should have seen some of the other pictures of bikinis I came across on Victoria's Secret. Let's just say, I was even a bit shocked and my first thought was "I can't post a picture of that" and even, "I would never wear that and feel comfortable toned or not!" Thanks and glad to give some motivation even if it wasn't quite what I was looking for, lol 🙂

    Oh awesome and would love o have you join me. It is so easy to just eat and eat. Trust me I know all too well. I need to truly get more active again, because writing has had me also sitting and vegging out in front of the computer more. Happy to have you by side in this one 🙂 🙂

You can do it mama 🙂 I'd totally join in, just to tone myself up a bit, but I have a good reason that I can't. Maybe my goal can just be to drink more water!!

    Enjoy. And you know–at 38 and after three kids–I swear I look and feel better than I did when I was 18 or 28. So it is possible. Even while maintaining the necessary intake of chocolate, wine and whipped cream every sane mother needs. 🙂
