Parting is definitely sweet sorrow. And the journey, I have been on since late January/early February has been bittersweet for me.
What journey is that? Slim by the Summer weight loss journey!
Well, when I started on the Slim by the Summer program, I was about 10 pounds heavier then I was only six months earlier and for 5’2″, I was definitely over weight for my body size. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but when you are 5’2″ tall and have a bit of extra junk in the trunk and flabby in all the wrong places from having two kids in the less then two years time, it is everything.
That said I had indulged too much from Hurricane Sandy at the end of October, into the holidays and right through the early part of the year.
I was blogging 7 days a week, writing on Hubpages and also penning my first novel, which I have not edited in months and is on hold for now. But sitting around on my butt, while wrote was not doing me any favors either.
I didn’t remember the last time, I had worked out nor did I have the motivation, even though I wasn’t happy with the weight gain.
And then, one of my very dear and lovely bloggy friends, Lanaya from Raising Reagan posted starting a dieting/exercise support group about Slim by the Summer.
It took me all of 30 seconds from reading her initial post to realize, I wanted in.
I joined and the last 4 months or so, I have worked out daily even if it is for 15-20 minutes. With two little kids, this is no easy feat. I have watched my diet having used My Fitness Pal for awhile and then just holding myself accountable.
I have had my ups and downs with this journey as I have chronicled here. And I am not going to lie, it hasn’t been easy, but I stuck with it, because of the wonderful support I had from Lanaya and the rest of the Slim by Summer participants.
And, I am proud to say that having just celebrated Memorial Day Weekend and also celebrated the fact that at the culmination of this program, I lost all but 0.5 lbs that I wanted to originally lose and now weigh in at 105 lbs. My clothes are fitting better, am more toned, feel healthier and am so proud of myself for seeing this through.
A huge thank you to Lananya (who I consider like a best friend after all of this) and I have one request. Please don’t close our Facebook group, because when I feel a week moment I want a place to go to keep me focused. I know I am more a lurker on there, but still like the option of being able to go on if I need.
Last, but not least a huge thank you to all my readers, who have always been so supportive of me with the Slim by the Summer posts and for your friendship, too.
Although, I will no longer be posting Slim by the Summer Posts, I promise myself that I will continue on with this and not give up when I have come this far!
