“We need to get the kids snowsuits!”, said Kevin. This statement, in itself ,wouldn’t have been so bad had it not come at 6:30 in the morning, when I had still been sleeping. In NY, we got our first snow storm already this week and when Kevin woke up that morning this was his first thought. I, however, was still sleeping peacefully while I could.
But not Kevin, he got up early to shower and then clean up his car and outside our home, too from the snow to go to work. Ok, I should be feeling bad that he was already up, but in all fairness, my day is usually long enough and was trying to catch up on my sleep before my two beasts got up for the day, because once that happens my day is usually not quiet again until bedtime.
This says it all about sleep and my day..So here was my reaction, “Are you kidding me, it is 6:30 in the morning and I was sound asleep and you woke me to tell me this amazing piece of news!”
Well of course then I got told this lovely nugget in return, “You are so not a morning person!”
“Seriously, Kevin I am tired and could care less about snow suits,” I qualified my bad mood now.
“Well, when they go out in the snow to play they will need something to keep them warm and dry,” Kevin responded.
“Kevin, who is taking them out to play at 6:30 in the snow?”, I now spoke louder.
“We know it won’t be you, because you hate the snow and cold weather, too,” he told me as if this was news to me.
“You are damn right, because if I had my way I would live somewhere that I never saw a drop of snow again and that it didn’t drop below 50 degrees again,” I said quite indignantly.
“Oh you are just no fun and don’t you want to experience the snow through your kids for the first time?”, he asked me.
“I tell you what. You take the day off and show them fun in the snow, because I am rolling back over now and pulling the cover back over my head for another half hour!”, I now said grumpily.
Kevin with this just laughed and went into the bathroom then. Instead of going back to bed, because I was now awake I went into the living room and went on the computer to start my morning. I wasn’t even on the computer for 5 minutes when this e-mail came through:
Here is the now infamous e-mail:He was apparently on his iPad while he was using the toilet (got to love men and their bathroom habits) and started searching out snow suits. I kid you not, I saw the color red when this e-mail popped up. Seriously, now it was just principle. I am tired and awake, because he couldn’t just be quiet and ignore the OCD in his head. Now, he is e-mailing me on this too.
To be honest, I truly don’t like the cold weather and snow, but I do know they will need these outfits if the weather, this weather is any indication, but I guess at this stage it is just the point that I had to be awoken to this news and then annoyed for the remainder of my morning about it.
In the end, he annoyed my poor mother-in-law with this earth shattering news, who is still without power. God bless her, she was at Target anyways and called me to say that they had snow suits there in my girls sizes, she would pick them up and drop them off to me later that day.
All day I have been repeating, “I love my husband, I love my Husband” over and over again, because if I don’t I may end up murdering him from the over-exhaustion. Yes, though I truly do love him, but sometimes he reminds me that I love his mother more!!
You know what I have heard all the horror stories about in-laws, but will be honest and say right here my mother-in-law is a saint and an angel on earth. No joking, she was the one to have put up with her son for so long and never complains about helping out when he comes up with another one of his brilliant ideas.
So for all it is worth, I will vent about a lot on my blog, but the one thing I pretty much guarantee you won’t hear me complain about is Kevin’s mother, because she truly is a gift from god even when her son is driving me mad (which yes he does quite often and well). Thanks mom for being just you and keeping me sane.
On a side note, am I the only one who hates the cold and snow? Seriously I was not made for this type of weather. Hit me up and let me know I am not alone on this one.

Richard, I am from NY and should be used to snow, because we get our fair share usually every year, but damn I hate the white stuff. And I hate the cold even more. I tend to get cold rather easily (probably poor circulation and being on thinner side with not enough insulation!) and when I do I can't warm up. I would much rather 100 degrees and humidity then the cold and/or snow. I know I am strange, but that is just how I feel. Not sure if it is a female thing though, but am interested in seeing what others have to say about it. Thanks again as always 🙂 🙂

Now wait a minute my dear; my bathroom habits are not like Kevin's….for me it is dump and run….no texting, no reading, no emails…dump and run. 🙂
I love reading about your adventures; makes me feel great about my day. LOL
and I love the snow and can't get enough of it!
JanineHuldie says
Sorry Bill to lump all men together on this one and apologize for that. I just know what happens in my house, but as my grandfather used to say, "To assume is to make an ass out of you and me." So essentially sorry for that assumption, but this is indeed what the man in my house does, lol!! Also, wish you lived closer, because that someone else could take my kids out to play in the cold, wet snow that I despise. Seriously, thank you and you know how much am so very thankful to have you as a friend 🙂 🙂
Kevin says
I tell you Janine. This Kevin character sounds like a powder keg of good ideas.
JanineHuldie says
So says the originator of this so-called character. Love you truly and thanks for the comment. You put a smile on my face lol 🙂 By the way, I promised you would get another chance at a shout and here it is as promised!!!

Hahahahahahahahahahaha! And I'm not even sure that was enough to represent the actual amount of laughing I did while reading this post. Janine, I can't even tell you how much I can relate. I'm awakened early in the morning for all kinds of entirely random thoughts from my husband. Really great post!
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Cari and knew if anyone could relate it would be you, because our husbands are so very similar. See what you have to look forward to when you add kids to the craziness, lol!! Seriously, it only gets better 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Kelly and ironically he just asked me this morning, why I was talking about the kids and the hurricane so much and no mention of him. I had just written this up late yesterday, so I guess we are in tune on something! As for the snow, I am not sure if anyone could quite hate it as much as I do, lol!!
Cyndi says
LOL – I can just imagine being rudely awakened to talk about snowsuits and then to get an email! I can tell you that I was reading that, my husband in a million years would never email me after looking at children's clothes online. Heck, we don't have kids and I have to go out and get his jeans for him. HAHA. This was hilarious. 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Cyndi and what you don't know is my husband loves clothes and even though he is the most manly man you could meet he has more clothes that even me. So when it comes to clothing and accessorizing that is totally a thing he loves, which would have been fine if I wasn't woken to this craziness. Seriously, couldn't make this up if I tried, lol!!

I always say I never cared about the weather until I had kids…because let's face it, if the weather is bad, the kids can't play outside (and kids need to RUN!) or if it's cold, I don't want to be outside with them. And yes, I'm not a big fan of winter either. We take the boys skiing a lot and I always dream of sipping my margarita under a palm tree when I'm freezing my butt off on a chair lift! And oh those snowsuits, such a pain to get them on and if they have to go to the bathroom…ugh!!
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Emily and so happy to hear that I am not the only NY'er that would rather be anywhere but in the cold winter here. As for the snowsuits, not looking forward to dressing them in it, because I know just what a pain in the butt that will be!!
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Clark for also sharing that you too are not a fan of the winter, cold and snow. Like you I am also resigned to finally thawing out again in April!!
gigigirl says
Well, Janine, you know how I feel about winter….I escape to Florida! If you ever decide to relocate to that state or another warm one, I'll be right behind you. Kevin loves to tease you and knows how to get a rise out of you. You may have to figure out a strategy that keeps you cool and calm. His mother has that naturally….maybe you can learn from her. And I agree, she is a saint on this planet and I love her too! And I love you and Kevin as well.
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Aunt Gloria and if I could I would be in a warmer climate in a heartbeat. Unfortunately it isn't going to happen any day soon. So am just going to have to suck it up I suppose, but won't stop me from complaining here and there, lol!! That said so right about Kevin an his mom, too. but then again you aren;t new around these parts and should know, lol 🙂 xoxo and love you too!!
Courtney~Mommy LaDy says
I'm with you. I can't stand cold, and love our 100 plus degree weather:)
JanineHuldie says
Thank u so much Courtney for letting me know I am not alone with loving the 100 degree warm weather anyday over the cold and snow!!!
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Jamie and again just so happy to know I am not the only one who dislikes the snow, because I do feel bad I can't enjoy it more for my kids, but I just can't. As for the picture, I too stay up a few hours after my kids and usually find myself falling asleep while catching up from the day's tasks, too.
