We are indeed knee deep in October and it is now Columbus Day weekend. The girls are off from soccer for the weekend and school on Monday, because of the holiday, but Kevin still has work. But we decided to take the girls pumpkin picking finally barring that the weather holds up.
We also have two kid parties to attend on Saturday (one is for a friend of Emma’s from dance last year and the other is our nephew, who is turning two). Also, Monday is my dad’s birthday, so we will be having dinner and cake with my family tomorrow evening after pumpkin picking. Aunt Gloria, if you, are reading, we can’t wait to see and catch up with you (yes my Aunt is a reader here and love her for that and more!).
But it is Saturday and as is for most Saturdays, I share my weekly thankful things, as well as a blog wrap-up and affiliate/giveaway offers.
And since it is October and I am a part of the October Daily, cannot forget that today. The prompt is to share your day in photos, but I am going to amend this and share my weekly thankful photos to combine both linkups together here.
Now, without further ado, I want to share all about this week and my photos, too, by getting the party started with Ten Twelve Thankful Things (sorry I had a few to spare again this week)~
My Ten (Twelve) Things of Thankful of The Week~
1. I still was coming off the high from our book getting published last week and seriously, the rave reviews are rolling in and just so proud and happy for all of us who are indeed a part of it. Couldn’t resist including the picture again, because it is my blog and I can!
2. The weekend started off last week with Friday night yogurt. And of course Kevin had to be different and get a huge oversized vanilla shake. Love this photo for all the silliness and then some!
3. On Saturday, we got to shop sans kids for a birthday gift and also Halloween costumes for the girls at the Disney Store, because Kevin’s mom watched them. After the quiet shopping, we spent the afternoon watching both girls be overjoyed and excited at our niece’s gymnastics’ birthday party. I think we may actually sign them up for a class once soccer is over for the winter months. I got the paperwork and information. So, we shall see!
4. Saturday night dinner out with one of our very good friends. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings. Emma was definitely tired and not on her best behavior and Lily slept for part of it on Kevin. But the food and good company made up for some of this. If you ever go, try the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Sandwich, it is a bit spicy, but oh so yummy!
Buffalo Wild Wings Caribbean Jerk Sandwich~So Yummy!!5. Happy to be still have my one year blogiversary giveaway running and enter if you haven’t, because seriously who couldn’t use $400! Raffle copter is below. Last weekend to enter and don’t miss out on winning $400!!
Yay for One Year of Blogging!!6. Last week, it was 85 degrees in October and still so nice and warm out. Not complaining, because I know it will be freezing and snowy soon enough. So, I will just be happy and thankful for small favors.
7. More Sunday morning soccer-Lily and Emma’s we an hour apart and got to go to both girls’s game this weekend. Even if Lily was melting down a bit on the field that she wanted to play with Kevin (and Emma’s) team. Finally got to see Emma in action this weekend and am truly grateful for that! By the way, it was misting the whole time, but got to love sweatshirts and hoods for this!
Lily Crying During Emma & Kevin’s Game- 8. Sunday afternoon, found us attending the open house and family day at Kevin’s office. He works for Canon America, Inc and they recently moved their headquarters to a fancy, new building. So, this was so nice to actually tour and see where Kevin works now. We even got to enjoy cookies, ice cream and more towards the end, as well as pick out pumpkins!
The Girls Eating Ice Cream at Kevin’s Work
Girls Picking Pumpkins
9. Lily has been melting down more this week. The worst being coming off the playground on Tuesday. She was throwing sand and told her she had to leave. Well, full meltdown mode ensued and just so grateful I got her home and that the threats of returning her Halloween costume (she is going to be Belle), canceling her 3rd birthday and no Santa have been helping now. Granted she doesn’t know, that we won’t do this, but still has been a bit more successful in keeping these moments at bay now.
10. Need to stay thank you to my bestir, Lanaya over at Raising Reagan for awarding me not one, but two awards. Post will be following hopefully soon, because I seriously haven’t had enough time in the day to get my act together on this. But thank you mama for the Squirrely Award and for the Sunshine Award, too!
The Sunshine Award!! The Squirrely Award
12. One more for good measure and I am, of course, thankful again that weekend is indeed here and hoping to relax a bit. Maybe even catch up on my DVR again this weekend!

I just laughed out loud at the size of the vat that Kevin's shake came in.
Janine Huldie says
I know Robin. Seriously could not believe how big that vat was!! 🙂
Sara says
I think I might be the first comment!! Love the pictures of the girls playing soccer. I am also having some issues with Collin having meltdowns. I don't mind them at home but I get do embarrassed in public and turn 50 shades of red. Enjoy pumpkin picking!!
My recent post A Kid Free Weekend – Charlotte, NC
Janine Huldie says
You are totally my first comment and love that you are Sara. And I seriously wrote the whole story out and am sharing it on Monday, because I was so 50 shades of red, when Lily decided to have a complete meltdown this past Monday on the pre-school playground. I punished her and wouldn't let her go for the rest of the week, because it was seriously that bad!!
eddy says
As always wonderful Janine and Loved the pic of girls and the goal scoring. Brilliant and I wish you a wonderful, weekend.
Lots of love from Wales to you and your beautiful family Janine.
Eddy..
Janine Huldie says
Thanks as always Eddy and seriously hoping that your weekend is going good so far!! 🙂

Lol that picture of Kevin with his huge milkshake ~ I die!! Your photos are great today, I totally love the picture of Emma scoring a goal and of course the girls in matching outfits while pumpkin picking. You're giving me a lot of fun moments {and ideas!} to look forward to with my girls as they get older 🙂 I think I'll be dressing them a like for a while too, since E seems like she'll be wearing the same size as Sofia in a few years lol. She's a chunk! I totally need to buy your book now, too. Hope you have a nice weekend ~ wish you were coming to Sofia's birthday party today! xoxo
My recent post ordinary.
Janine Huldie says
Totally wish we were coming for her party today. We have a kiddie party for one of the little girls Emma used to go to dance with and then my nephew's 2nd birthday tonight, too. So, we are going to be all partied out until tomorrow when we celebrate my dad's! Seriously so many October birthdays can't keep track! And I totally do dress them alike when I can and I say go for it. Lily is definitely bigger then Emma ever was at each stage, so sounds like you will be having the same with Eliana and Sophia, too. Have a wonderful day today and Happy Birthday to Sophia again!! 🙂 xoxo!!
Sandy Ramsey says
I am still so happy for you and all the other wonderful ladies for Mother of All Meltdowns. I have added it to my Christmas list for some moms I think will truly enjoy it! It is always so fantastic to have you share your regular everyday moments. I love your family. I can relate to the kid meltdowns, too. I've gotten a note every day this week in Justin's kindergarten planner….yesterday, he spit on someone. Not good, not good at all…..
Janine Huldie says
Awe, thank you so much Sandy seriously, cannot say that enough. Your support and kindness is really seriously just so appreciated. And so love that you are gifting this one to moms. I totally think I may have to do this, too now! I know it was one hell of a week here with both my kids and meltdowns. Stay tuned for the blog posts all about it next week, because my writing was truly my therapy and then some this week!! Truly hoping you are having a great weekend now though and less meltdowns for sure 🙂
Billybuc says
I have never met Kevin, obviously, but I instantly like him. He just looks like a kind, gentle, loving man. You chose well, Janine.
Have a great weekend!
Janine Huldie says
Awe, thank you Bill and I will say that you are right he is very loving and gentle, too, especially with the girls. And as always hoping you are having a great weekend, too!! 🙂

When I saw the milkshake photo I thought his straw was coming out of the big container the first time I looked. Bwahahahaha.
Have a great weekend!! (and I am going to find a way to get that Jerk Sandwich in my life. Yes I am) –Lisa
Janine Huldie says
Lisa, I knew when I saw that container in front of him that I had to take a picture and so glad I did, because it makes me smile so much, too. And I am trying to figure out how I can get another jerk chicken sandwich real soon, too!! 🙂
Rosey says
Oh my gosh, their boots!! lol I love their boots. 🙂
That's a shake your husband got, gotta hand it to him.
Happy partying w/the kiddos this weekend. Hubby's off but the kids are not on Monday. I can't get a thing done when daddyo's home, but I like him here anyway. 🙂
My recent post Formal is Out of Style (isn't it?)
Janine Huldie says
Rosey, the boots are all the Children's Place and swear by their kids clothes, because you get such great clothes for the price. Kevin isn't home on Monday, but he is taking Wednesday, because I have my yearly physical. So, he taking the kids to school and I know what you mean about getting nothing done, but still loving having them home!! 🙂

WOW! Janine you've got a hella lot on at the moment! So glad that loads of it is good and nourishing and enriching and fun (milkshake and ice-cream pics are gorgeous)
Sorry to hear that Lily's been having lots of meltdowns (at least you can use that to further underline your credentials for being in a Real Live Book – which is totally awesome for you, btw). Hope that she starts to feel on a bit more of a stable footing emotionally, and that y'all are able to continue life happily and without upset for a while.
Enjoy every moment of relaxing you can get over this weekend, and love your entry 😀
My recent post Ten Things of Thankful #19
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much Lizzi and am hoping that you are enjoying your weekend and friend's visit, too. As for Lily, I thought that exact thing and so had to write a post, too after it happened as my way of coping and venting. So she definitely does give good inspiration to say the least!! And congrats again to you on the book. So need to buy it and it now, too!! 🙂
lrconsiderer says
My weekend is going awesomely, thanks 😀
Your is the second venting post I've seen today, and it's totally a valid way of doing things 🙂 At least you were able to find the Good 😀
WHOOT! It's going to be free to download tomorrow – so hold fire on buying it just yet 😀
My recent post Ten Things of Thankful #19

Totally downloading this tomorrow and seriously thank you for telling me that. So excited to read your part of the book and really just so excited for you. And by the way, that is what I love most about your hop, that not only can I share thankful things, but also vent a bit, but still find the good and positive in it. So thank you again, Lizzi!! 🙂
lrconsiderer says
That's the beauty of the exercise – we can make it whatever we like, and use it as a tool to make life seem that little bit brighter again 🙂 I *think* it's tomorrow that it's free – if not, then in the next few days 🙂 Thanks for being so awesomely supportive 🙂 x

Hi Janine!
What a ripoff- we have school on Monday and we had soccer this weekend! No rest for the weary! We are going pumpkin picking this weekend too! Congrats on the book! Wow- that is exciting! Love the vanilla shake! Not sure who has more freckles- your husband or me! Hope you have a great time at our all your birthday celebrations this weekend!
My recent post Sometimes It's The Little Things
Janine Huldie says
I thought Monday was a national holiday, so totally confused why you wouldn't get it off, but then again even though the post office is closed, Kevin still has work at Canon, because it is a Japanese company. So you aren't the one working on Monday. And you re right, Kevin is totally covered in freckles, being 100% Irish. Also hoping you are enjoying your weekend with the missus and the boy, too!! 🙂
realhousewife says
Man just reading your blog and all you do wipes me out:) LOL. You're so dedicated and I admire that greatly firs of all. I love the shake pic but my favorite is the girls picking pumpkins! Priceless and I love the polka dotted skirt and colorful tops!
Janine Huldie says
Kelly, they totally dressed themselves and couldn't take credit for that, but I wasn't going to fight them, because they were happy and not whining!! But I know I just never stop here and when I was writing it, I thought to myself, man I am tired just thinking about it all!! 🙂
babygatesdown says
Wow. I thought I was busy. I bow down in awe to the organizational prowess that must be required to keep all that going with such obvious fun and grace.
Congrats on being published! I think I'm envious – but in a healthy "that's something I've always wanted to do and maybe I should do something about it" kind of way… Well done. I will be sure to check out the book!
And hope you have a blast at the pumpkin patch. That's on our list in the near future as well 🙂

Janine Huldie says
I am so with you on it, if Christine's pigs can learn to fly then maybe we won't have the cold and winter, too!! Hey, a girl can dream, lol!! 🙂

Ohh, I hear you with Lily… Threevil is hitting you, too? Violet has an attitude these days, more 13 than 3… I'm glad you still had fun with the soccer games, the family day at Kevin's work and at the pumpkin patch. We still have to get out pumpkins.. Probably just pick them up at the store, but I might see if I find a patch somewhere. (Good luck to me..).

Janine,
It looks like you had a good week and had a lot to be thankful for. I just love seeing your girls smiles. How old are they? They look very close in age. They remind me of my twin boys who are now 17.
Tell your husband our family celebrates many of Fridays with a milkshake.
Blessings and have a great rest of the weekend.

My recent post “RoundUp Review” ending 10/12/13
Janine Huldie says
I will totally tell my husband that and know he will love to hear it isn't just him. My girls are 16 months apart, but my older daughter is petite and small for her age (she always was and even at birth-she was term and only 5lbs 15ozs and 17.5 inches in height). So she and my younger (who is just normal sized for her age) looks like they could be the same age. I get asked if they are twins all the time and really is a blessing now, because they are totally each others best friends and pretty much get along like twins would. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your weekend, too!! 🙂

Meltdowns. Yikes. In the same boat with my 3-year-old. We went to a birthday party at the children's museum and he let EVERYONE know how unhappy he was when it was time to go.

Totally my pleasure in sharing and to be honest, I love these recap posts, because it helps to update many who may have missed something during the week, as well as sum the week up for me, as well. And seriously the 3 year old meltdowns are making me crazy and your 3 year old totally sounds like mine, because she really has no problem sharing when she is displeased with something now!
Rich Rumple says
You've done well, Janine! You get so many comments any more, your efforts have paid off well. Did Kevin drink that whole container of shake in front of his glass? My God, it's a wonder he could move afterwards!!! lol The girls are just a cute as ever, even when "melting down". That's all part of it, as you've well found out. And C.Jerk Chicken, fantastic stuff, but not quite spicy enough for me. Good Job!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much Rich and I am so happy to have others who did want to read and come back here. I really just love the interaction and puts a smile on my face. And yes, Kevin drank that whole shake and he did mover afterwards, too! And I honestly thought the Jerk Chicken would be more mild, but it was anything, but. However, I would love to have another right now if I could!! 🙂
