Sofia’s Disney Store Event Fit for A Princess

Filed Under: Kids Posts Tagged With: Disney Store, Free Event, Movie, Princess Sofia

My girls, as most on my blog know, are princess obsessed.  We own half of the Disney Store Princess collection alone, because of this.

Seriously between the dresses, accessories (shoes, necklaces and more), dolls, toys and now even bedding (both girls have Princess Sofia comforter sets), we could open up our own Disney Princess store.

I recently went to the Disney Store in the last month to purchase costumes for my girls for Halloween.  Emma, as most again know, was Princess Sofia and Lily was for all of the 20 minutes she wore the costume (she was so sick with a virus the poor thing that day) was Belle from Beauty and the Beast fame.

But when I purchased the costume, a flyer for a Disney Store featured event was thrown in my bag for good measure.

The event wasn’t to be held until Saturday, November 16th from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.  And it was in honor of Princess Sofia’s (the first) newest Disney Channel movie to air on Sunday, November 24th for the first time.

The movie features Princess Sofia (of course), but also Ariel of the Little Mermaid movie.

So, it was to be a full on celebration for the new feature film.

Well, the day arrived and I totally lost the flyer (that is why I have no pictures of it here), but thankfully remembered that it was that day.  I called the store and confirmed that the party was indeed taking place that day.

We packed the kids in the car and headed to the Disney Store with the girls dressed up with their Princess Sofia amulets and their Princess Sofia plush dolls coming along for the celebration, too.

Princess Sofia & Ariel The Little Mermaid

When we got to the store, the back was where the event was being held.  A Disney Store employee was handing out laminated underwater scene placemats (for Ariel) with sticker sheets (they gave the girls each a second sheet to decorate the back as per their request) that could be stuck on the placemats with all sorts of stickers from Sofia and Ariel, too.

They also got cardboard paper amulets and crowns, as well.

Also, the clip from the new movie was playing, because after all the party was being held in honor of this movie.

All-in-all, we spent about an hour there and the girls had so much fun.  The event didn’t cost us a cent and was totally worth it in my eyes.

My point here today is to share that sometimes you can have a ton of fun and not have to spend a dime.

In this day and age, when so much does cost and my kids toys and rooms, as stated earlier, can attest for this, it is nice to know that the store itself (after spending so much money there all year long), does give back in the way of free events such as this.

I totally will be taking my girls back for future free events and will be keeping my eye open now for them.

And if you have a Disney Store near you, I suggest you keep your eyes open, too, because from this experience I would totally give thumbs up to the Disney Store’s free kids’ events.

By the way, I was not compensated in the least for this article nor did Disney even contact me for this, but just felt compelled to finally share this it here with all here today.

Alexa, there have been quite a few events that I didn't do, but so glad we did attend this one and wish they would do another Sofia event soon, because my girls just had such a great time 🙂

Great point too! When Laurel Lu was a baby and toddler – I was the queen of finding free stuff to do in my city. We have quite a bit here and thank goodness for that! I used to say that all the best things were really free!

I know Kelly, I have been saying free is so for me! But I do have to scout better free stuff for the kids to do and this totally proved it!! 🙂

Okay, I am so bummed that I didn't know about this. I have been in the Disney Store at least 3 times during that time frame and didn't receive a flyer 🙁 Alivia just loves Sofia and Ariel. She did see the movie, but it would have been great to get her out with other kids. Maybe my Disney store didn't offer the event; who knows. Anyhow, I'm glad your little ones had a great time! Love your pics too :o)

Elena, I am not sure if they were doing this at every Disney Store, but I would definitely ask your local stores for future events and if they have any flyers. I know mine has done a few so far, but this was the first one we actually attended and like Alivia, both my girls just love Sofia and Ariel, so when I saw this was coming up, i made sure to make note of them and to take them.

Oh my goodness! This was so cute. I can only imagine that the girls will be talking about this for years to come! I've never heard of anything like this, but it's great to know because like you said…what fun for the kids and it was FREE! 🙂

Thanks Brittnei and I was floored that this was a free event. Seriously will be doing more events like these in the future now for sure!! 🙂

It is good to take advantage of the freebies. So glad to see the girls with the princesses, etc. They look so cute. Sounds like a fun time was had by all…..for free (my favorite 4-letter word). Enjoying 80s here. 🙂 Love……xxoo

Totally good to take advantage of the freebies and I am so with you on the word free! And we had 60 here yesterday, but 80 does sound divine. Seriously hoping that we continue and have a mild winter, but have a feeling that January will be awful and prove me wrong on this! Love you xoxo!! 🙂

We were just at the Disney Store last Saturday, nothing happening anytime soon that I know of. Madison refused to leave without one of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Minnie so I ended up getting her one. She's obsessed with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The girls look like they had a lot of fun. 🙂

I'll need to keep my eyes open for things like this, I didn't even know they did these events! You can definitely tell that your girls had an amazing time ~ I love their little faces! Hope you had a nice weekend Janine and let's keep our fingers crossed that the ice/snow today isn't a preview to the rest of the winter lol! xoxo

i haven't heard of princess sofia, but i LOVE the little mermaid! i gotta remember these things for future reference. i remember taking my nephews out bowling and spending at least $50 on the rental of shoes and then the lane. i was like, "omigosh, kids are so expensive!" and we were only there for two hours.

Trust me, if you have a girl you will be speeding a ton of money at the Disney Store for all things princess. My girls are seriously obsessed and I am in that store enough all year long where I find myself never leaving without purchasing something. And either way you can always ask me and will help if I can 🙂
