Sometimes, I try to make things simpler for myself and yet create more work for myself.
I decided last week to begin sending out a monthly newsletter from myself through Mailchimp for all my subscribers. If you subscribe to my blog, you should have received it on last Friday. Basically, it highlighted the past month’s favorite posts and more from this blog.
I am still doing my thankful posts, but have decided not to do the weekly updates here anymore, because to be honest it is truly just more work for me if I am doing a monthly newsletter and by the end of the long work week, the less I have to do the better.
So, if you would like these updates, as well as any special news I can send out in my newsletter, please subscribe to it normally in my sidebar or below this post, if you haven’t already. And now you can also subscribe to it right now here:
Now, that I have gotten that message out of the way, please continue on and read this week’s thankful things to find out more. So do indeed keep reading to find out now…
2. Lily telling Kevin, “I don’t like how your food smells!” while he was cooking dinner and when I asked her why, she said, “Because it smells like meat!” Yup that is my picky child’s mind at work.
4. LeTote box arrived on Saturday just in time to try some new fashion looks out for the weekend and early this week, too. Nothing beats the mail the past few days with this box, Julep Maven and GLOSSYBOX, too. And no bills either in my mail Love these kind of mail days for sure!
5. Last day of Sunday soccer for the girls for the winter session, where the girls received their medals. Now, we get a few quiet Sundays until outdoor (spring) soccer begins. Pray for warmer weather when this begins up again.
6. The snow and nasty weather held out long enough on Sunday that we could take the girls to Burger King and get them out before being stuck indoors before another snowstorm was said to hit.

It's funny because I was just talking to someone yesterday about sending out a newsletter. Do you think it's going to be a lot of work, though? Let me know how you think it's doing.

I tried to fight it, but I do think I should send one out. to be honest, I was killing myself weekly to sum things up here and think doing a newsletter monthly (like a best of) will definitely take some pressure off me and also give my subscribers a bit of something to look forward to. But I will definitely let you know how it is going 🙂
Jen @ Driftwood Gardens says
You may have just inadvertently given me a little push in the right direction. I was just looking at MailChimp yesterday to do just the same thing but I got overwhelmed and thought maybe I'm not ready to do the monthly newsletter. I'm going to sign up for yours for some extra inspiration! Thanks for adding another thing to my thankful list for this week 🙂 We did get that snowstorm here in Jersey but I am out of work right now so I stayed inside with my daughter and baked banana bread with chocolate chips. It was all good!
Janine Huldie says
Glad to give you this push and if you do setup a newsletter, please let me know so I can sign up for yours now, too. Glad the snowstorm went Ok for you all and I did hear that the storm had hit Jersey, but like I said so glad you all managed through this one. 🙂
Michelle Liew says
Glad that the snow has somewhat stopped! And those socks are cute!

Oh thanks for signing up and wishing you too a great weekend, Rosey!! 🙂

What a great week, getting so much mail! Snail mail is the best (when it's not bills of course).
As your soccer ends, ours begins. Our kids have their kickoff this weekend, with everyone having soccer camp. Enjoy your break!
I like to hear about kids having fun in preschool!

We kick off on the 23rd this month, but seriously hoping it warms up. Today it was 60 degrees, but tomorrow it is not even supposed to 40. So it is a crap shoot with the weather, I suppose. An hoping you guys have a great opening weekend and can't wait to hear all about it!! 🙂

Yes, I saw your monthly newsletter and was like YES, I know that's what I need to do. Thanks for the inspiration. I love reading your 10 Thankful THings, so I'm glad that isn't going away.

Thanks so much April and excited about doing the Newsletter monthly now. I figure it is better then doing the weekly recap, because at least we can look back monthly not weekly. And hope you try to do a newsletter now, too!! 🙂

I'm excited about your newsletter – looking forward to receiving it!!!
I hope y'all are warmer this weekend than last. Glad you have a few slower days!

Aww, thanks for saying that Kim and it was 60 degrees today. The girl got outside and rode their bikes today for a bit. Seriously hoping that Spring is coming now and here is to hopefully no more snow, too!

Yay for taking it easy!
The snowstorm was supposed to be big and gave us nothing at all. Today is 46 and sunny which feels promising and tomorrow is my favorite – more light!!

Tomorrow is so more favorite and so excited to be changing the clocks. Seriously, one of my favorite days each year and don't even care about tolling the hour now either. And it was 60 degrees here today. The girls rode their bikes (or attempted to) outside for the first time this season!! 🙂

Do you think the letote box is worth it? I feel like some of the boxes can be so pricey!

Janine Huldie says
Granted I have had a free subscription for review purposes and am also debating now if I want to reup it when that runs out, but will say I love it, because I have new clothes pretty much weekly and can return it and get more. For the price, seriously not a bad deal at all 🙂
Dyanne@IWantBacksies says
Lots of fun in your week! Silly socks and pajamas and Dr. Seuss at preschool, oodles of products arriving in the mail for you to play with! And maybe you had your last snow of the season!

Blue Goo Jello sounds AMAZINGINCREDIBLE! I want some!
Love that Emma was so happy to pose in Lily's hat. That Lily's a FIRECRACKER, huh? Awesome character 😀
Aaaaaaaaaaand. Okay. Dumb-at-Girls-moment…do you add the glitter yourself, after you put the first colour on? Or is it a separate polish you put over the top? Or what?
Janine Huldie says
Lizzi, Emma thought the jello was amazing too and couldn't stop talking about it to me. And seriously not a dumb question at all. I usually put a base color on my nails and then once I do the two coats, I then add another separate polish that is clear in base color, but has the glitter/sparkles to give this effect 🙂
lrconsiderer says
GOOD for Emma. The girl has fabulous taste.
And AHHHHHHH *penny drops* Clear with sparkles in. THANK YOU 😀
Janine Huldie says
Thank you and anytime my friend!!! 🙂

Wow…good luck with the newsletter! I think youre right that eventually it will pay off in time management but initially it will be a learning curve! Love those little girls! Ya gotta love a kid willing to ham it up in her sisters creation! I have been known to wear socks like that on a not so silly day as well!
Janine Huldie says
I love that you were socks like that irregardless. And I have used the newsletter for FTSF and helped others setup for J9 Designs, so thankfully I know MailChimp pretty well now, but you are right I will definitely take my time getting used to what will work for this and what won't 🙂

as I write this hope grows! Two words: 55 degrees Fahrenheit!

I am so with you on this and 60 degrees here, too today!! 🙂
stephanie2006 says
How many hours does your day have, Janine?? It simply has to be more than 24!! I hope you finally get some milder temperatures, soon, Janine! Funny sock day sounds awesome, as does Dr. Seuss Day.. I so wish Dr. Seuss was more known over here!! Have a great weekend, Janine!

Oh, sounds to me like you have a future vegetarian in the family! Some of my children have "done the vegetarian thing" during high school/college years. Only one still is avoiding meat, though.
Janine Huldie says
She will eat chicken nuggets, but not steak or any other meat. So I guess I will never know, but anything is possible 🙂
Sandy_Ramsey says
Uh, oh! Vegetarian alert!! That is so funny! Your girls are such a hoot!
I was thinking about looking into Mailchimp but it would be one more thing to keep track of. Or maybe it's simple and will write itself? Maybe when I have a few extra minutes I'll look a little more.
I like the new nail polish this week. I cancelled my Glossybox subscription because I got so sampled out but I may go back to it one day. They are fun to get!
I was playing around with my blog earlier today and saw the Pro Version and the options for different fonts. I thought of you…..funny coincidence!
My recent post Getting Lucky, Being Blessed – Ten Things of Thankful
Janine Huldie says
Total coincidence and actually love MailChimp and even have set up a few clients with it too. But you already know how much I love playing with this stuff and why I now do it for a living. Totally love Glossybox, but even I am debating staying with it after my 6 months subscription is over or trying something else. Guess time will tell for me, too 🙂
gigigirl says
Glad you missed that last forecasted snow storm. Hope this weekend will be a good one….and turn the clock ahead! I will subscribe to your monthly newsletter ….. I can catch up on things I missed and/or enjoy the review of things past. Love, Aunt Gloria xxoo

Aww, thanks for subscribing and enjoy the weekend now, too. No snow and 60 degrees to boot tody. Can’t beat that xoxo 🙂

How awesome that you have a monthly newsletter now 🙂 There goes my Lily! Love her comments. She seems to have the funniest things to say to Kevin. LOL. I hope you all won't have snow or that it won't be too cold when they start outdoor soccer either. I remember when it was cold at the beginning of Spring Lacrosse season. B-R-U-T-A-L! I could have sworn my husband said you all are about to get snow again. Sigh. 🙁
