But I have a confession to make.
Yes, I know that the title of my blog infers that I confess here often. But nevertheless, here comes a colossal confession.
I have never actually cooked Thanksgiving dinner for my family. Nor have I have cooked a turkey myself.
I know what you may be thinking?
Such as, “That’s it!” or “How in 39 years have you not done either of these?”
Pretty simple. While I have hosted plenty of events and cooked many different types of meals, this is one I have never had the pleasure of though. Because either my mom or mother-in-law has hosted for us.
But I have made appetizers, sides and/or even desserts. Also, I have hosted smaller get togethers around this time of the year, such as birthday parties for my almost turkey baby. See, my youngest was born two days before Thanksgiving. This year her birthday happens to be on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and next year actually falls right on Thanksgiving.
Right now, I am in planning mode for her birthday, as well as what my contribution to this year’s Thanksgiving will be.
That said, I always shop at our local Stop and Shop, as it is truly it lives up to its name as my one stop shopping experience for all sorts of events.
While at Stop and Shop for this year’s Thanksgiving feast, I am able to purchase all the supplies I need to help with what I will be making this year.
How?
Because once again, I don’t have to run from store to store to gather everything I need. Seriously Thanksgiving time is busy enough!
What exactly did I get on my most recent Stop and Shop trip?
How did Stop and Shop help?
1. Decor –
That’s right Stop and Shop actually sells supplies to help with the decor of any event, such as themed paper goods (plates, napkins and more).
2. Make sure to get all supplies needed –
Not only can I purchase the decor, but I also found all the supplies for the recipe I will be using below to make a kick butt, appetizer!
3. Prepare ahead of time –
All of this allowed to be plan out what I would be making and prep way ahead of time.

4. Have an awesomely themed appetizer –
And now for the awesome Thanksgiving appetizer that I am serving this year and think you may very well want to, as well…

OMG that sounds delicious, and I tried once to make the turkey for Thanksgiving and it was a colossal failure. LOL Happy Thursday, Janine!
Janine says
Thanks Bill and I keep thinking if I were to try to make a turkey it would turn out about as good as the one that the cousin from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation made in that classic movie scene! Happy Thursday once again to you, too 🙂
Seana Turner says

We don’t have Thanksgiving here but even during holiday season like Christmas or New Year, I have never cooked for the family because it’s never my forte. LOL. It’s usually my husband who does the cooking. I’m just good with eating. LOL 🙂 Have a blast on your Thanksgiving dinner my friend! And advance happy birthday to your princess.
Janine says
Thanks Rea on both counts! Oh and I am with you on eating, too!! 🙂

I must confess that I’ve never made turkey either, but I did host Thanksgiving dinner once, and it was the year Eve was born , but it was just me, Sam, Eve, and his parents, and food from the specialty grocery around the corner from us. It was a tasty dinner, but I was in a sleep-deprived fog.
Looks like a tasty dip perfect for the holidays!
Janine says
God bless you Bev and I remember the year Lily was born (only two days before Thanksgiving) and pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to host Thanksgiving myself on that one!

Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Dip sounds… delicious. What an original way to use pumpkin spice, Janine. Since it’s the season where Pumpkin Spice is all the crazy I happy to see a truly original recipe that pushes the envelope. The Cheesecake dip concept is genius.

This recipe looks sooooo good! Def will be making this!!! =) Love the places that lets us moms only need to travel as little as possible when shopping! Making turkey for the 3rd time this year in the 20 years of being capable to do it. Happy early Birthday to your little one! #happynowlinkup
Janine says
Thank you for the birthday wishes and I am with you on being able to shop in one place if possible, too!! 🙂
Lisa says
Your confession did make me smile, you see until last year, I had managed 44 years on the planet without having to cook a Christmas Turkey and all the trimmings. I have no idea what I will be doing for Christmas this year, but I should probably start thinking about it since we are now in November. I am just relieved I don’t have to worry about Thanksgiving too, I’m not sure I’d cope. So to you and all US bloggers, Happy Thanksgiving #happynowlinkup x
Janine says
Thanks Lisa and love that you could not only relate, but got a smile from reading, as well!! 🙂
Diane Roark says
Janine,
I would love to attend one of your parties. You are an amazing mom with all the best ideas. This dip sounds so good I could eat some NOW for breakfast. I love that you use one of my favorite things Pumpkin Coffee Creamer. YEAH! The older I get, the more FALL becomes my favorite time of the year. I just love everything pumpkin, but I have never seen some of the products above. Maybe we will be getting those chips in soon.
Thanks for sharing! I will have to whip some of this dip up this soon. I am sure it would be so easy and delicious.
Blessings,
Diane
Janine says
Aw, Diane thank you for all your kind words here and I wish you lived closer as I would totally whip some of this dip up and share with you! Hugs 🙂
Leslie says
Yum! I love pumpkin dips, and this looks delicious. I’m a bit jealous that you don’t have to host Thanksgiving, but I’ll get over it. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
Janine says
Happy to share and I honestly still can’t believe I have gone this many years without hosting!! 😉
