Any mom of babies will tell you that wipes are an essential baby care need day or night.
As a once mom of two babies, there was a time when baby wipes were something I would never go without in my home for diaper changes, spit up and more. And I most certainly wouldn’t leave home without a package of wipes in my then diaper bag.
Back right after I had my younger daughter though, we discovered she had very sensitive skin (still does), when we first brought her home from the hospital. See we noticed how red she was getting from using regular wipes during diaper changes.
For this reason, we soon realized we weren’t going to be able to use these types of wipes, which contained many chemicals and other harmful ingredients that did not agree with her delicate skin. So, we started to use cotton clothes with just warm water to clean her for those first few months as we couldn’t seem to find a safe chemical or preservative-free alternative at the time.
But that baby stage of her life is most definitely behind us here with actually both my girls being school aged and no longer indeed babies at all.
Yet, we still use wipes here quite often, because big kids have wipe worthy messes (mine included) even if they are no longer the diaper/potty, spit-up or baby wipe variety.
And again, my younger daughter still has highly sensitive skin that has found her getting rashes from many different products as she has even suffered from eczema in the past, as well.
Therefore, I was never more happy to learn that our local Target sold WaterWipes now, which are chemical free, not containing any preservatives with all natural ingredients being 99.9% Water and 0.1% Fruit Extract. WaterWipes were recently awarded the Seal of Acceptance by the National Eczema Association. WaterWipes are both durable and effective without indeed containing any harmful chemicals. Therefore WaterWipes proves a safer, natural option for all little ones (mine included).
The WaterWipes package will keep for up to 15 months before it is opened. Once you open your WaterWipes package, they recommend that you use the pack within 1 month.
Unlike some other wipe brands, WaterWipes are not inter-folded. This allows for the sterile environment within the package to be maintained. For the same reason, they also recommend that you do not relocate the wipes in an alternate container.
Honestly, wish these would have been available back when both my girls were babies.
But still, we purchased them now with high hopes to try, because trust me on a daily basis my kids use wipes for all sorts of kid worthy mayhem, but still need to be mindful of our younger one’s sensitive skin issues.
Use them we totally did and happened to love WaterWipes from Target. They are our go to wipes now, because WaterWipes handled all sorts of messes the girls dished out, but also held up to the promise of being pure, natural and safe, as well.
So what are some instances that my girls used WaterWipes for?
Here are the top 10 instances that my school-aged girls needed to use WaterWipes in our home recently.
- Breakfast-pancake syrup sticky spills and hands, too.
- Toothpaste remnants left over after teeth brushing concludes, especially in the creases of small mouths.
- After a messy snack comes to an end, such as orange cheese doodle hands or melting ice cream/ice pop faces.
- For leaky juice box spills that find us often enough for my juice box drinking kids.
- Out to dinner at a restaurant, there are always big kid mishaps awaiting wipe usage for us.
- While running errands and shopping at, such places as Target, there often is need for a wipe or two.
- Especially during cold and flu season for runny noses, boogers, and more, we find good uses for wipes.
- After school playground playing for muddy messes. Thank god for wipes.
- Spaghetti or pasta dinner faces are just one of the many dinner foods that wipes do wonders for.
- Crayon and marker coloring on skin rather than paper, which happens more often than not.

These were seriously the only thing we used. Mai was so prone to diaper rash. Sensitive wipes did not even work. These were a god send.
Janine says
Kim, I definitely would have used these over 5 years ago when Lily was a baby here for diaper changes, too as they really are a godsend for sensitive babies and kids. We definitely are using them now though and are really our go to wipe for the girls 😉

Katie | The Surly Housewife says
I was lucky that my girls didn’t have a problem with the varying types of wipes and diapers. My nephews did and it is such a pain to figure out which won’t affect their skin. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of these wipes before?! I will totally be checking them out. They will be a lifesaver in the car!
Janine says
Katie, I really had no clue until we had our second and she was so sensitive and prone to breakouts from so much, including just regular wipes for diaper changes. That said these wipes are not only great for that (from what I have heard), but for all big kid messes, too as I shared with my two here. Hope you get to try them now 😉
Kristen Miller Hewitt says
We always need wipes! Totally checking these out!
Confessions of A Mommyaholic says
Glad you can use these and think you will love them as much as we do! 😉
Kristen says
As long as I have kids, I’ll need wipes! totally checking these out, never heard of them!

Same here Kristen and hope you like them again as much as we do!
Jen says
My list is the same as yours! Well except for the instance yesterday where I was wiping a booger off of another toddler whom my toddler had decided to wipe boogers on!! You just can’t make this stuff up!! I have never tried water wipes, but since I always have some wipes on me I think I need to now. Thanks for sharing!
Janine says
Aw, definitely can’t make this stuff up and I know crazy, right! Hope you try these soon, too 😉
Jhanis says
I used cotton and warm water too! We have wipes available here but it wasn’t only until recently that those organic and no harmful chemical ones became available. Wipes are heaven sent, really. Will keep an eye if Water Wipes are available here!

Janine,
My kids are all teens and adults and I still by wipes. Call me crazy but you never know when you will need one especially in the car. Thanks for sharing this great product.

I couldn’t agree more Diane and glad I could pass on these great wipes to you, too!! 🙂
Tamara says
I had one kid in which nothing bothered her skin. Then there was Des, and many things did!
Good quality wipes are so important. If that’s something I can tell pregnant women.. well I’ll tell my two sisters, in fact!
Janine says
Tamara, again twins where this was concerned. As Emma was fine, it was Lily who had these issues. And I do very much agree that I would share the same with those pregnant now, such as your sisters 😉
Gingi says
OMG, I remember thinking it would be great when my babies are toddlers, because then I won’t need wipes.. instead the amount of wipes I need QUADRUPLED!! haha!! Great post! <3 – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
Janine says
Thank Gingi and I know totally use more now than we ever did in the past during the baby years, too!!

catherine gacad says
i had never heard of these and must have them! franco has super sensitive skin.
Janine says
I think you will love these for Franco and hope you can find them near you now.
Rea says
Wet wipes are my savior back then. I don’t buy them as often now that Reiko is a lot older but I do agree, wipes do help in many cases especially when we’re out and about. Like you, I look for wipes that don’t have harmful chemicals. Water-based is always good.
Janine says
Couldn’t agree more and water based is definitely the best in my opinion, too.
eli@coachdaddy says
My oldest is 18. I still could use to keep wipes around! Heck, they should market stuff like this to dads – you know how tough it is to keep a steering wheel clean when you drive while eating an apple fritter?
Janine says
Is it wrong that now I am craving apple fritters?! Seriously though those wipes come in handy for more reasons than I can even begin to put a number on here, too 😉
