“Owie, Owie, Owie.”
It is just another morning here with my younger daughter crying out in pain from me attempting to brush her hair to get ready for school.
At only 5 years old, my little one’s dirty blonde locks are very long in length. So long that her hair is down to her waist. Plus her hair is extremely thick. So, bedtime as much as I have tried to teach her to keep her hair in a braid to minimize tangles and knots.
Some nights, she forgets and takes her hair down after I have already put her to bed. Therefore, the morning to follow usually finds us having to combat the snarls in hair as I brush it out to style it for the school day ahead. Trust me, when I overshare that the amount of tears she has shed over this exceeds maximum capacity here. Other than braiding her hair at night, you name it I have tried it to not have to hear her high pitched dramatic complaints.

Still, my girl loves to have her hair done once all the crying and fussing is over, because she is a girly girl through and through with her hair.
Well recently I shopping at Target (most who read my blog know my love of the this store), because I actually had to get both my girls more elastic ponytail holders. See lo and behold my oldest knocked a handful of ones we had in the bathroom toilet while I was doing her hair for school earlier that particular morning. So, imagine my surprise when not only I found a large selection of Goody Ouchless products, including Goody Ouchless Elastics ponytail holders with 10x more elastic being the #1 choice for comfortable, secure hold and clips to help keep the girls hair from pulling or snagging when styling, but also spotted the Goody Ouchless Girls Oval Brush to help with tangles and knots. There was only one left on the shelf at the time and I grabbed it having indeed dealt with our fair amount of this as shared above. This brush is marketed to allow for “No Tears for Mommy or Me!” by allowing us to gently brush out even the toughest tangles without tears being shed. See the FlexGlide Bristles are strong enough to get through matted and messy hair but still gentle enough to work through those tangles without pain and also has a flexible cushion pad for even more comfortable detangling. With Hippity Hoppity, Easter indeed being on its way, I was actually just trying to figure out something unique and different that I could gift to my girls in the DIY Tutu Tulle Easter Baskets I made for them, when it dawned on me that I could give them these Goody Ouchless Hair products in their baskets. No more tears, plus a fun, girly Easter gift–a win-win in my book! By the way, these pretty in pink baskets are just the right amount of girly for my two who are dancers from way back and adding in the Goody Ouchless Hair products are also the perfect added feminine touch and gift for all young girls.
DIY Girly Tutu Tulle Easter Basket

I can remember clearly when my mother would refuse to keep my hair long when I was a kid because combing it would be such a chore. LOL so I kept a short hair back then and when I was finally able to take care of it on my own, she allowed me to keep my long hair. Well, I don’t have girls at home, hehe but looks so cute for your princesses!
Janine says
Rea, that makes total sense as I can tell you brushing out knots out of long hair for little girls is no fun. But still glad to share the hair tools that do make it easier and the girly basket gift idea, too 🙂
Kathy Radigan says
Janine that picture is heartbreaking!! I love the Easter basket, great project!
Janine says
Thanks Kathy and I know it is heartbreaking, but after the 1,234,567,890 morning of this it does tend to get old. So glad I could find something to help with this though 😉
Nellie @ Brooklyn Active Mama says

Hey Janine,
I was just telling my youngest daughter that we needed to get her something to put her hair up or back with.
She is definitely a girly girl!! I showed her the tutu and she loved it.

Your posts always take me back to the days when my girls were little. We had many tears with hairbands. Goody makes quality products. I never thought of putting tulle on an Easter basket – cute idea! I always wrapped ours in cellophane, but this is girly indeed!
Janine says
Aw, so happy to take you back and as a kid totally remember the cellophane wrapped baskets as I had more than my fair share. Just happy to share a newer and girly idea here today though, too 🙂
Bill says
I’m not sure what I can add to this discussion. How about if I just wish you a great Monday and let it go. 🙂 Thanks for your constant loyalty and friendship, Janine!
Janine says
Aw, thank you for your loyalty and friendship always, too and have a wonderful Monday once again, once again!! 🙂
Allie says
I use those bands on Audrey’s hair. She has such fine hair, it tangles easily. The basket is adorable. You have way more patience than I do;)!
Janine says
Allie, it wasn’t too bad to make this, but will admit I am glad I did it while I was home alone if nothing else 😉
Shelly says
What an adorable Easter basket!
My daughters are all grown now (25, 19, & 18). My son is 15. My girls all had long super thick hair growing up, I told them they could do whatever they wanted with their hair after they graduated high school. My oldest cut her hair right after graduation and then grew it back out. My other two still have long hair. Detangler is a good thing! I also recommend one of those wide tooth shower combs. I have long hair myself and love the shower comb.
My kids are too old for Easter baskets. Time goes by too quickly and before you know it kids are grown.
Janine says
Time definitely does go by too quickly and still thank you for some recommendations here, too 🙂
Tamara says
Aw, these are amazing! I have these fights with Scarlet daily. I even told her I wanted her to get a crewcut. I’m terrible! I just have such long hair and I remember the struggle myself. Goody to the rescue.
Janine says
Tamara, I have had that same talk with Lily, too! Seriously though, just happy to have Goody indeed come to our rescue 😉
Amanda || Growing Up Madison says
Madison while her hair isn’t as long as your daughter’s also have a hard time with the tangles. I keep her hair usually in a protective style but whenever I do take it out we only use Goody products. Goody has been around for so long that they’re really the only brand I love.
Janine says
I know Goody really is just such a long standing name with hair accessories and the only trusted brand here, too 😉
Jen says
Thank heavens for Goody right!! That basket is absolutely adorable and the video is super cute! Well done my friend! Nailed it 🙂
Janine says
Aw, thanks you so much Jen for the kind words and the share, too!!! 🙂

I know I am constantly replacing them here, as well Lisa and thank you 🙂
Denise says
What a cute idea! Your little girl sounds a lot like me when I was her age. Detangling is no easy task! That basket looks like so much fun, hopefully all these Goody products encourage her to enjoy the “fun” up-keeping that comes along with thick hair! #client
Janine says
Thank you Denise and truth be told, I was a lot like my little one, too. So, just glad that Goody does make some great newer hair products to help with the detangling issue. And so glad you like the basket, too 🙂
Marilyn says

I need this hairbrush for Eve! With her uber curly hair, it gets unbelievably matted overnight.
Janine says
Bev, Target has them and hope you can get one for Eve now, too.
Leslie says
Ugh, hair tangles are such an issue at our house. T has thicker hair than I ever had and refuses to keep it up. This means that she wakes up with a massive rats nest in her hair…which of course leads to tears, just like your youngest. Anyway, your basket is super adorable, and that video is so fun!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Leslie and I know all about the rats nest here, too as I said my youngest and feel your pain totally.
catherine gacad says
i totally love this. love easter too, but haven’t gotten franco anything. oh well, he won’t remember!
Janine says
I know and remember this when my girls where younger like Franco, too.
