Both my girls are truly coming into their own with drawing, as well as their imaginations, too. I must tell you I went to parent teacher conferences recently where I was told that both girls love to draw. I guess shouldn’t come as a real surprise having Kevin as their father, who is a true artist.
During Emma’s conference, we were told (and shown her drawing). Apparently, she had to draw a picture and tell a story. She drew us sitting on the couch watching Cinderella. Kevin and I were totally impressed by how well she drew this picture and seriously think she may have a real shot at having Kevin’s artistic talent.
And even Lily, we were also told sits so nicely and will draw and color pictures. The teachers said when she is drawing/coloring she is totally in the zone.
Kevin and I have been sitting with them both during the day to help them try to draw and color even more now so.
I was coincidentally also given the wonderful opportunity by a past contributor, Kathy, to my blog to check out her newest e-book on learning how to draw over 100 different animals.
I thought this would be perfect for my girls and to help them hone in on their artistic abilities.
Truly has been and I asked Kathy to share a bit about her e-book and she also offering an amazing opportunity to all my readers, as well.
So, without further ado, here is Kathy to explain this more to you now.

It's funny – my oldest has a true artistic talent. He gets that from my mother and sister, who both went to art school after high school. My poor six year old got my artistic ability, which is none. LOL.

That is so here whoever gets the artistic ability is not from me, but totally from Kevin!! 🙂

One thing I will miss when our kids get older and actually implement a technique is their awesome little art pictures. It is one of my favorite things to experience as a mother. I love their take on it. The other day my son came home with a drawing of the big Dodo bird that hangs upside down with all the little baby birds on the phone wire from one of the Pixar short film clips; I loved it. Art is so special and it really makes my heart happy to see their skills and imagination at work. Both of our children love to draw. We have noticed a spike in interest with out 8 year old lately, because she has been bringing home all of the "Learn to Draw" books from the library at school. They have always drawn and been happy too…they are in the zone. My husband and I both have artistic abilities, so it is no surprise that they both love it. This is a wonderful giveaway. Have a great Wednesday!

I am all for kids being introduced to the Arts early and often. It is so important to their total development as human beings. Keep up the good work Janine, and have a great Wednesday.

I really like drawing moose, but the Rainforest Animals seem really cool. So nice to see Emma's drawings. Scarlet probably has some talent because my mom, sister and grandfather are so talented at drawing/illustrating. And Cassidy majored in Art!!
It skipped me, though.
My recent post I Wish I Were Big.

Totally skipped me, too Tamara and yet again just more we have in common. And you know I love that we can relate to so much including this. And I am really excited to see if Emma, Lily or both (do I dare push my luck) will be as talented as Kevin in this regard. So, I guess time will tell for us with our kids on this one! 🙂

That picture is so great! And it's wonderful they both enjoy drawing! I used to be a really fantastic drawer. I say 'used to be' because I lost a lot of that talent when I didn't do it much anymore. If they are good at it; I hope they stick to it. There's no better satisfaction in creating art (something you can be proud of)! I also wish I kept some of those old drawings. If Alivia ever decides to draw, I'm keeping every piece of artwork for her so she'll have it to look back on. By the way, love that We Draw Animals site; very cool and helpful for kids! Great post!

Isn't it exciting to have budding artists in your midst? Makes me occasionally feel like maybe I could draw something more than a stick figure!
I liked the polar bear one, but I really want to do the butterfly one. They're my favorite! 🙂

Melissa, you and me both on those stick figures. But I know I loved the butterflies and now just need to get my drawing groove on to do more of those with my girls. I thank god though that Kevin is an artist, because he can so do this and them so with my girls!! 🙂

I have no ability to draw but spent hours as a child trying. This would have been great. So glad the girls got Kevin's art/drawing genes. And great that you encourage and nurture that talent in Emma and Lily. Have fun at Lily's party and give her a big birthday hug from me. And hugs and kisses to both girls and all of you. xxxxoooo
Janine Huldie says
Same here Aunt Gloria. I seriously have no ability, but didn't stop me from drawing for hours as a child. I just hope one of the girls has Kevin's talent for this. Safe to Florida this weekend and please keep us posted. Love you and will miss you, too!! xoxo 🙂
