When It Rains It Pours, that is how I felt for so many reasons and then some for most of the day.
Black Friday and also known (most already know) as Lily Ann’s 2nd Birthday around our house had shaped up to be a crazy day. I truly hadn’t stopped to breath or take a moment for myself.
I got up around 7 am. I went to bed after writing more of my novel last night. I wrote the least amount in any one day that I have in awhile to be honest on Thanksgiving, but not only was it a holiday, but I am battling what appears to be a virus. I was at the chiropractor the day before and started to feel a bit light headed and nauseous during my appointment and haven’t been able to truly shake this feeling. I have been taking Motrin for my head and Pepto for my stomach. So fun times, but I had no time to be feeling sick, because between Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Lily’s Birthday, I truly needed to get stuff done.
So back to the issue at hand, once I got up today, I tried to catch up on my e-mails, blog replies, others blogs and Hubpage articles, too. Then, my girls got up, got dressed, eat breakfast and had Lily open her presents. Everything, she opened was opened to the tune of, “Please Daddy, can you open this now?” Well at least she is polite!!
Once everything was opened, she was so happy and in toy heaven. I got myself together for my mom and I to go out for our annual Black Friday trip to The Children’s Place. God, I love that store and their Black Friday deals are too good to pass up. They run an all store 30% off on top of their discounts already and then you can use the 20% coupon mailed to you, plus 5% off on your Place card. We walked out of there with four bags of clothes for my kids and presents for kids in our family. Serious discounts, that I can’t pass up and I pretty much wait to do my kids winter clothing shopping until this day every year now.
Once we finished there, I had to run to AC Moore to pick up a number 2 candle for the birthday girl’s Barbie Cake tonight. Then, I got home to find that Lily had broken one of my kitchen chairs that Kevin had to fix with wood glue (not sure what kind of party he throws when I am out!).. He fed the kids lunch, but of course came back to a sink full of dirty dishes and glasses, too (no surprise there!). So, I had to clean that mess up, as well.
Next up, I had to decorate the Barbie Cake, while Kevin decided to play some PS3 (yes, if I could have murdered him and gotten away with it, I would have at that very moment). Then once the cake was decorated, I now had to clean the house (vacuum, mop and a once over) for tonight’s guests for the birthday girl. Thank god we are ordering pizza, because I am truly too tired and sick for much else.
All-in-all her party went off swimmingly and she was so very happy in her new matching ‘Rock Star’ outfit as Emma called it. I would have had more pictures, but Kevin decided to hand off our camera for our 6 year old nephew to take pictures when she was opening the gifts during the party, but I do have a few that I am thankful to have to keep from this special occasion.
Thank you again for all the wonderful birthday wishes for Lily and hope you enjoy a few photos from the day and a cute video of her opening our presents in the morning.

Thank you so very much Vikki and so happy to hear that you too share my love of The Children's Place. That store truly rocks and can't beat the prices!!
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Kate. I can honestly tell you that I used to shop at Old Navy for my kids, but once I found The Children's Place, I swear by them. Not only are their prices unbeatable, but the quality is truly wonderful, too. I really do highly recommend that store for kid's clothes.

I used to shop also at Old Navy, Kate, but since I have found The Children's Place haven't really needed to shop anywhere else between the prices (they are really good and always have sales and coupons, too) and the quality is pretty good also. Happy to share, because it has saved me a ton of money and my girls have a better wardrobe then me, lol!!

I feel you on the cold. I have been pushing it off and pushing it off for a couple weeks now. Today it is starting to get the best of me. I think that means tomorrow I will have to disappear and do nothing more than just sleep the day away. Can't get sick can't get sick… not now. Well – sounds like you all had fun. Now time to take a break and get better soon!
JanineHuldie says
Sorry, you too have been feeling under the weather Stacy. I wish I could sleep for a week, lol. But as soon as I sit down to do just that somebody needs something. I swear I want to change my name and not tell anyone what it is!! Feel better soon Stacy 🙂

You are one busy woman! I hope you get to feeling better soon. I'm thinking Lily had a splendid day, despite the challenges. You are awesomesauce!
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Cyndi and seriously I really hope she did have a great day, because I really just kept pushing myself for that result 🙂 🙂
Aprille says
aww happy birthday to your daughter! feel better soon!
JanineHuldie says
Oh thank you so very much Aprille and today I have been feeling a bit better, but again was truly so busy. Kevin painted the kids room, tried to write a bit, food shipping, dinner. Just seemed like the never ending day!!
Audrey Howitt says
Happy birthday to you little one and I hope you feel better!!
JanineHuldie says
Thank you so very much Audrey and thankfully today I seem to be feeling a bit better 🙂 🙂

Thanks Dianna and I just kept the video rolling to see the unwrapping process from her eyes for the first time.

Thank you so very much femmefrugality for taking the time to stop by and comment, too. It truly was a wonderful day in the end even if it was crazy and hectic to get to that point. As for The Children's Place, I am not kidding when I say, I literally got a new wardrobe for my kids and have barely $80 to pay on my card (and that isn't even all from them, because I bought gifts for some of the kids in our family, too). Love that store 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Thanks so much Melanie. I wish there was time for rest, Kevin decided to start painting the girls bedroom that have been asking for pink yesterday and will be finishing up today. So I have a house that is a bit of a mess and two kids that I have to keep occupied and out of their bedroom while he finishes up!!

Wow Janine you are such a trooper! I too have been sick this entire holiday week and I don't know how I could have pulled off a party! I do know that I would have killed hubby for taking a break like that! 😉 I am so impressed that you kept up with your blog – between our holiday guests and my week long illness I have done next to nothing! Hope you feel better!
JanineHuldie says
Thanks for saying that Stephanie. I truly just tried to keep going, because if I sat down or stopped for a moment, I don't think I would have kept moving then and probably would have collapsed. I was working on pure adrenaline at that point. Thankfully though I seem to be feeling a bit better and just hope that it stays that way.

What a treat to see Lily open her gifts…and to see Emma in her new Rock outfit! I know you were stressed, but you gave Lily and very happy BD! Hope you're feeling better. Hugs and kisses to all…….
JanineHuldie says
Oh thanks so much Aunt Gloria and was actually able to find another of those vests at Children's Place. So now they each have one the way you had wanted it and Emma couldn't be happier, because if I hadn't found it she would have stolen Lily's anyways, lol!! I did get your your message by the way, but am actually sitting down for the first time in days. Love you and hugs and kisses right back to you 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Seriously Richard, I have forgotten what shopping feels like for me and have turned over my shopaholic tendencies for my kids sake. You know me always taking one for the team, lol!! Seriously, I do have pizza left over, but even more so thanks as always for stopping by and giving me your wonderful spin on things. Totally appreciate it and can't help, but look forward to it. Thanks!!!

So wife taking time to write blog trumps husband sittin and playing PS3 for an hour. Very interesting. Could be a possible SAT question for the future. Ex. Wife spends 8hrs writing while hubby spend 1 hour playing video games. Please explain how wife's time is more valuable than hubby's time? Please show your work. Luv you Hun!

Look at the imagination on you today. You are just on fire and bringing math into this when I know how much you loathe and detest it, lol!! Thanks and love you too 🙂 🙂
