Am I the only one who dreads the winter with the bone chilling months of January and February?
Living in the northeast part of the US, these winter months are bitter cold and snow, conjure up all sorts of catastrophes and even make me physically ill with the dread and anticipation of deep freeze every year as we are approaching it.
And yet, the wondrous thing is, I am married to a man who loves when the white stuff falls and kids who beg to go out and make snow angels, snow balls and more once the first sign of this powdered sugar goodness (their thoughts not mine, but still) hits. I think they are insane, but they truly don’t seem bothered by all things winter – crazy right?
Well, recently when I was asked to share and guest blog over at my twin’s blog (actually she is my ying to my yang and bestie who inspires me daily) as she is getting on a Jet plane (today actually) and fleeing for warmer temperatures to the happiest place on Earth (you guessed it Mickey’s House – Disney), I had to first recover from my mild jealousy that she would indeed be able to replace the down coat, scarf, hat, gloves for short sleeve shirts and possibly even shorts (Don’t get me wrong, I am truly excited for her, but still wishing I could escape a bit myself).
Then, I thought what better way to celebrate her warm weather escape to discuss my own fear and loathing, as well as my husband and kids’ absolute joy and adoration of the coldest season (winter) of the year.

Diane Roark says
Janine,
Tamara takes great pictures I look forward to see her Disney pictures. We had the best time at Disney during the Christmas holidays. I would love to be there now. We have not had any snow but BABY IT IS COLD OUTSIDE.
I truly hope you are doing well.
Many blessings this week!
Diane
Janine says
I know Diane, Tamara takes amazing pictures and truly hoping she will take some of my family this upcoming summer (campaigning very hard for this), so I can’t wait to see her photos. And yes not as much snow just yet, but very cold indeed. Hope you, too are doing well. 🙂
Emily says
I’m so with you on the winter…the older I get, the more I seem to dread it and hate it. My husband talks about us moving south (or west) every year…I think eventually we’ll do it!!
Janine says
Emily, Kevin and I actually contemplated moving to Arizona when we were engaged back in the day. In the end, of course, we stayed put, but even now he will tease me about being sorry that we didn’t. Someday, I, too, see warmer temperatures hopefully in my future, as well though 😉
Bill says
It’s boringly mild here….a little rain, a little fog, a little whatever that yellow thing in the sky is…one day looks just like the last…and the last before that….and the…..
Happy Wednesday my friend.
Janine says
Bill, I will take a bit boring with the weather any day of the week in the winter myself!! Happy Wednesday, too 😉
Kim says

Ginny Marie says
As you know, I usually love the white stuff but this year am tired of it already! Looking forward to reading your guest post over at Tamara’s!
Janine says
I know you do and for you to be tired of it has to be a lot of snow.
Kimberly says
Hello cute lady! Thank you for hosting such a fabulous party. Please take a moment to stop by our party. We would love to have one of your amazing posts at the party. Happy Tuesday! Lou Lou Girls
Janine says
Thanks always Kimberly and so happy to have you party with us once again 😉
LINDSAY KLEIN says
I am absolutely hating on winter the older I get , and the husband is out plowing BUT!!! It does equal more money for us and I crave one big snowfall that makes time stand still:) I like being forced to be home and maybe RELAX! HAHAH
Janine says
Lindsay, I wouldn’t mind that big one if it did allow us to just stay in and not going anywhere at all, but still I can only take so much of that until I get bored. But here is to hopefully getting to relax soon 😉
Jenny @ Unremarkable Files says
New to Wonderful Wednesday. Thanks for hosting this party! I look forward to looking around and reading everyone.
Janine says
Jenny, so happy to have you here and hope you do enjoy some of the wonderful posts here tonight 🙂
April says
Winter months don’t get that cold here. I’m lucky if it hits 60 in February. Not sure if I’m ready to move to the NE though. I hope it warms up for you!
Janine says
Aww, thanks April and definitely jealous of 60 degrees in January though 😉
Jen says
So the snow angel picture is pretty darn cute! I think you should really just come visit me in Arizona.
Janine says
I would love, love to visit you, Jen!!! 🙂
Echo says
I already paid you a visit over on Tamara’s blog and now, I am all linked up here!
Janine says
Aww, thank you and will be heading over to check comments there soon 😉
Rosey says
My kids like the snow. I’m not adverse to snow per say, but the winter road conditions, bundling up to go anywhere, and the COLD drive me nuts. 😉
Janine says
The bundling up is the worst, Rosey!!!
Leah says
So happy to see you over there!!!! I hate how long these cold winters last! I’m dreaming of spring too….
Janine says
Aww, thanks Leah and I know winter really does seem to drag on forever here, too.
Alexa says
We so rarely see snow that it’s always exciting to us. But we did have one week when it was down in the 30s every day. I didn’t care for it terribly.
Janine says
Logically I know it needs to be cold for snow, but that is the thing – I think the snow is indeed pretty, but the cold not so much!!
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
We had a dusting recently, too. My kids want SNOW and I would be fine if we only got dustings for the rest of the winter.
Janine says
Robin, I would so be fine with dustings for the rest of the winter here, too!!
Kate says
I like the first snowfall and that is it. I think if winter were only a month I’d handle it a lot better!
Janine says
Kate, I am so with you on this. Seriously don’t mind it during the holiday time, but once January hits, I am so over it!!
Jennifer | The Deliberate Mom says
I really dislike winter. It’s cold and depressing. Quite frankly I think I have a touch of S.A.D. I wish I had the money to go somewhere warm… even just for a couple weeks, in January/February. It would make the winter much more tolerable.
Thanks for sharing. I’m going to pop over to Tamara’s site to visit you there.
Be well my friend!
xoxo
Janine says
Jennifer, for years I thought I too had a touch or S.A.D., too and admit I just dread it even before it is actually here and then am just miserable for the few months it is and count down to spring every year. And I too would love to go someplace warm, but guess I will just dream about it right about now. Thanks again for stopping by at Tamara’s too today!! xoxo 🙂
Tamara says
This is just what I needed before heading to the airport!

I loved the article you wrote over on Tamaras blog!! At least January is almost over!! March will be here quickly and this winter is not nearly as tough as last year (so far!)
Janine says
Aww, thank you, Nellie and I got my fingers crossed that this winter stays like this now 😉
Pam@over50feeling40 says
Well, from south Texas, where we haven’t seen snow in years…we would love to make a snow angel!! Thanks for sharing all the fun with the Thursday Blog Hop!
Janine says
Aww, so happy I could share and hope you get to make snow angels very soon now 🙂
Jason (from BluePromoCode) says
Just discovered your site and really like it. We shared out your blog post about moms not having a day off on Twitter. Let us know what you think of our blog and associated coupon site.

Jack says
I am not a fan of winter which is why I have avoided living in cold climates.
Janine says
Jack, we would get along perfectly, because if I could leave and migrate to a warmer climate I so would!
Rea says
I sincerely hope that everything’s still okay even when you don’t like winter at all. 🙂 I hope you still get to enjoy and do things you love (not sure how)… Take care!!!! ♥
Janine says
Aww, thanks Rea and seriously appreciate you saying this 🙂
Rabia @TheLiebers says
February is the shortest month, but it feels like the longest> it goes so slowly and the cold is just awful! I would skip February forever if it weren’t for my husband’s birthday and Valentine’s Day!
Janine says
Rabia, I am so with you on skipping February if we could!!! 😉
Amanda @ Growing Up Madison says
